The space
YOUR OWN COTSWOLD HIDEAWAY - BUT SO CLOSE TO BLENHEIM PLACE AND WOODSTOCK

Brook Lodge is a stylish and cosy Cotswold hide away (lovely underfloor heating) just off a tiny lane on an escarpment overlooking the Evenlode Valley. It's a few minutes walk from the Lodge, down to the river, and fabulous for walking all year round with a Nature Reserve, impressive ruins of a Roman Villa and lovely Cotswold views.
We live in the former vicarage with Brook Lodge in our grounds and have ensured that both our home and the Lodge enjoy privacy.

DEEP SLEEP IN A QUIET COTSWOLD SETTING
The search for a really comfortable double bed was one of the biggest challenges in our Brook Lodge story. But we are really pleased with the final result. A huge Superking (7ft+) double bed with lovely linen and pillows and a bedroom that we really hope you like the look of (please see the photos)
If you require two 3 foot 6inch singles as an alternative please do let us know.
Just a few steps away is the luxury bathroom with power shower and 'wet room'

RELAXING INSIDE
Open plan and comfortable. Sofa and leather chairs: Smart TV (Samsung) with BT Infinity Internet connection. Lovely views from the lounge area with sliding doors opening onto a large deck.
If you are in the mood for cooking, handmade kitchen with views with Electric Oven, Gas Hob, Microwave, Dishwasher and Fridge with Icebox
Table for reading papers (five minute walk to shop) or for dinner

RELAXING OUTSIDE
You have your own large decking area, a private garden with chickens in their own pen. (you are welcome to their eggs for breakfast) Your garden leads into the meadow which is there for you to enjoy as is the Outdoor Fire Pit.

There is more information to read on this listing about the walking and cycling in the area but in short, it's fabulous and we have details of lots of routes.

If there is more you would like to know please just get in touch. We are here to help and look forward to welcoming you to Brook Lodge

Guest access
You have the whole Lodge plus large decking area, private garden and access to the meadow.
Beyond that you are just a few steps away to a network of footpaths to explore the countryside and places the are on your doorstep. ...

Brook Lodge is in a fabulous part of the Cotswolds and there is so much to see that’s really close

BLENHEIM PALACE ‘Britain’s Greatest Palace and the birthplace of Winston Churchill – you get a special perspective walking there from Brook Lodge.
Truly spectacular. (details in Brook Lodge)
From Brook Lodge you are overlooking land, managed and owned by Blenheim Palace and there are a number of walking routes into the grounds. There is plenty to explore and ‘secret gates’ with free access (all marked on maps in the lodge) but to visit the Palace and Gardens there is a charge.
We really recommend these walks that offer amazing views and an insight to the Estate itself as you pass working farms and managed countryside and stunning places to stop and relax.
A visit to Brook Lodge will enable you to really take time to enjoy the Palace and the grounds and to see parts that few ever discover.

A lovely day out from Brook Lodge is exploring the Palace, visiting the town of Woodstock and the grave of William Churchill in nearby Bladon

WOODSTOCK (details in Brook Lodge)
One of the prettiest towns in the Cotswolds, lots of historic buildings and some really lovely pubs and cafes (see our café and pub recommendations when you arrive at Brook Lodge), it's hard to find a disappointing one!

We mention it often but arriving in Woodstock after a walk is a great way to arrive and you can usually take the bus back (every hour, takes ten minutes, no Sunday service). It is a seven minute drive to Woodstock

Bicester Village
It's advertised in cities around the world as a must visit British attraction. The advertising works and it can get very, very crowded.
Designer brands at outlet prices have made Bicester Village famous and it seems to be continually expanding.
It’s about 25 minutes to drive to Bicester Village from Brook Lodge. A good tip is to get there early before crowds. If you don’t fancy that, then consider leaving your car at Oxford Parkway Station (free parking) and a 15-20 minute drive from Brook Lodge and take a 10 minute ride to Bicester Village Station.

Oxford
It’s a twenty-five minute drive (more in peak times) or a fifteen- minute train ride from Charlbury (3 miles from Brook Lodge). With a regular service on the main line to London we use this option and as a real bonus it removed the potential parking hassles in the City centre
There are other ways into the City including a bike ride down the Oxfordshire Canal!

Cotswold Walking Route and Cycle Rides
We have lots of options and all have interesting features along the ways, from places to stop and look, or stop and eat! Details in Brook Lodge or chat with us about them.

DETAILS ON THESE PLACES AND MORE WILL BE THERE TO BROWSE THROUGH IN BROOK LODGE

Other things to note
Your parking place is just a few metres from the front door, access up a ramp and no steps. Inside the Lodge is on one level. The only steps are outside from the decking area to your private garden but if there is an alternative flat route to the garden.

Location

Stonesfield, England, United Kingdom

Stonesfield as a quiet Cotswold village in an 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty' close to the beautiful historic town of Woodstock (exceptionally pretty, lots of places to east and drink and Blenheim Palace with all it offers). We are very fortunate to have a well stocked Village Store that is open seven days a week exceptionally good Cotswold Pubs nearby.

Local land owners, including the Blenheim Place Estate have been generous with access and there is an excellent network of footpaths from literally outside your front door. You could have a lovely break including visits to Blenheim Palace and Woodstock, lots of country walks and stop in a selection of pubs and cafes without using your car. And you can mix walking with using the local buses including an hourly service to Woodstock taking around ten minutes (except Sundays)

You really can step away from a busy life and... relax.
Those who don't usually call themselves walkers seem to enjoy exploring here on foot whilst many keen walkers and cyclists already have this part of the Cotswolds on their radar.

Antique and vintage furniture restoration, plus running a couple of shops in the Cotswolds keeps me busy. I love travelling with my husband, staying in special places and enjoy walking and cycling. Other members of the family cycle quicker and longer than me though. Like most people I enjoy eating out and think we live in a part of the world where we are spoilt for choice because of the pubs. We do know the area well and some of our favourite places are not the headline tourist attraction and we'd be delighted to share these with those who come to stay at Brook Lodge

We live in the main house in the grounds and if you have any queries we are usually, but not always around. We love the area and on your arrival you will details on our favourite walks and bike rides, local pubs and cafes and other interesting places some well known others easy to miss out on. And if you would like to discuss any aspect of your break with us either prior to you holiday or when you are here, we would be pleased to do so.
But we won't intrude, this is your down time.

We do love the outdoors especially here in the Cotswolds and really enjoy ensuring that our guests who feel the same have the best possible time
