Our comfy home on six wooded acres offers a unique location to Glacier National Park with easy access to West Glacier, Apgar, and Lake MacDonald, as well as the North Fork region of Glacier Park. Private setting offers tranquility and relaxation.

The space

This house has an available main floor and loft bedroom; the basement is not included in the rental. In the loft bedroom is a queen bed, a futon sofa (does not lay out into a bed), and a desk. Off of the living room is a space with an x-long twin bed and dresser - this is not a private bedroom, but a space tucked around the corner of the living room. The sofa in the living room is a queen sleeper. We've put a foam mattress topper on the sofa sleeper to make it more comfy. The total number of people that could sleep here would be 5, but the sofa sleeper may not be the best for two full-size folk.

There is a fully-stocked kitchen, one bathroom, linens, towels, a deck off the living room with a propane barbecue grill and picnic table, a horseshoe pit in the back yard, a game cupboard, and a washer and dryer with laundry soap available.

We look forward to greeting you when you arrive and will answer any questions you may have. After that we'll leave you in peace to enjoy your vacation time. We're available by phone should you need anything, but we do not live on the premises.

It's very peaceful and beautiful, but do not expect a groomed and manicured lawn; this is Montana and we like things a little laid-back.

Guest access

There is a fully stocked kitchen (dishes, pots/pans, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, spices, towels), one bathroom, linens, towels, a deck off the living room with a propane barbecue grill and picnic table, a horseshoe pit in the back yard, board games, and a washer and dryer with laundry soap available. We also have shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, hair dryer, and curling iron for guests.

Interaction with guests

We look forward to greeting you when you arrive and will answer any questions you may have. After that we'll leave you in peace to enjoy your vacation time. We're available by phone should you need anything, but we do not live on the premises. Ernie does occasionally need to drop by to gather work supplies from his shop that is also on the property.

Other things to note

The t.v. is mostly set up for VHS and DVD movies - we have a collection for your viewing. The reception for t.v. viewing is with a digital receiver and really isn't that great but does receive a few stations.

The loft bedroom does not get as cool as the main floor even with the air conditioning (heat rises!), so we have a window fan to assist with ventilation in that room.

Our pricing includes cleaning fees as well as Montana bed taxes.

Wow. This is a great place to stay. Very well equipped kitchen and also close to stores and restaurant so we could choose home cooking or eat out (Montana Coffee Traders and The Backroom). We grilled out and dined on the very nice deck. Very private and quite. GNP west entrance is just a few minutes away. Enjoyed lots of time hiking and sightseeing there. Also drove to Whitefish, Kalispell, Polebridge, and Big Foot/Flathead Lake. Ernie and Liisa are great at hosting.

Ernie and Liisa are amazing hosts! This was our first AirBNB experience and it will be hard to beat. Liisa provided much helpful information before we arrived and our checkin went smoothly. Ernie met us at the cabin, giving us the history of the house and helpful hints for our trip. The cabin is set in a beautiful secluded area, only 15 min from the entrance of Glacier National Park. The house was supplied with everything we needed and it was wonderful to be able to do laundry during our stay. We enjoyed dinners on the porch and board games and movies at night. Such a great place to unwind after busy days of outdoor fun!

Ernie and Liisa are probably our favorite hosts to date, they are truly gifted with hospitality. Ernie met us at the cabin, talked to us about Glacier from his years of experience in the park, and showed us about the home he built! The location was perfect very close to the west entrance. The deck was a beautiful place to sit and eat meals. The place was very clean, thoughtfully put together, and very well supplied. We were very glad we chose to stay here, much more relaxing than staying in the park with tons of people. We loved it! If you want to come to Glacier, this is the place to stay!

Great location for Glacier National Park and nearby towns for dining and shopping. Host was very helpful with suggestions for activities given his time as a Park Ranger. The lodge feel of the home was very warm and comfortable. We really got the mountain experience!

You can't beat this location for being so close to the Park, and easily drivable to nearby towns for groceries in Columbia Falls and great dining in Whitefish! Ernie was great and the place was very clean. We had a great a great stay!

We loved our stay and Ernie and Lissa's place. It was well kept and in a beautiful secluded area (loved the stars at night!) The beds were super comfy, outdoor grill and laundry facilities were great to have and Ernie and Lissa were wonderfully attentive, helpful hosts. Lots of books, maps and local and past guest recommendations that helped us plan our time well. The house is only a 15 minute drive from both Glacier's west entrance and the (somewhat larger) town of Columbia falls (grocery store etc). One minor inconvenience was during our stay there were some issues with rust in the tap water, which just made it smell a little funny (not dangerous). Ernie and Lissa kindly provided more than enough bottles/jugs of water for our use, so it really wasn't an issue, just a minor inconvenience to have to keep a bottle by the bathroom sink for brushing teeth etc. It sounded like this isn't a problem all of the time, but still worth mentioning. As described in the listing the house is in a beautiful, rural part of Montana, so don't expect luxury but absolutely comfort and lovely cozy atmosphere. We had a wonderful trip and would absolutely stay again!

Ernie and Liisa were wonderful hosts, and the cabin was beautiful. It was impeccably clean and comfortable and was a great base for exploring both GNP (it is quite close to the West Glacier entrance) and also the surrounding area. The sleeping loft was comfortable, and my mother-in-law said the downstairs bed was also great. Grilling dinner on the deck was a nice way to cap a day. Ernie and Liisa seem to have thought of everything (all of the kitchen equipment we needed and many of the basics like spices, oils, etc. were already there.) We enjoyed being close to everything but having a private space away from the bustle of the park. I can't imagine a more comfortable, cozy place to stay near the park, and the cabin has lots of charm. Thanks for a fantastic stay!

Ernie And Liisa User Profile

We've lived in this part of Montana for many years, and raised our two boys here. We've always enjoyed camping as a family and floating down the river in a boat that Ernie built (way better than a canoe for river rides - it hasn't dumped us out, yet!). Liisa loves to sew, knit, bike ride, read, and trying to learn to play the piano. Ernie loves working with his hands and all things outdoors - he used to be a back country ranger in Glacier Park.
