Roland’s Garden is a charming Bed & Breakfast located in the Fruit Harbour Bight of Guanaja.

The space

Surrounded by tropical vegetation and fruit trees, it is the perfect place for wildlife lovers and everyone looking for the exceptional experience in nature.

Breakfast is served on the balcony from where our guests enjoy amazing views over the forest and the Caribbean sea, and get an almost 'for sure glimpse' at our endemic Yello-naped Amazon parrots.

The Guesthouse’s purpose is to provide you a beautiful hideout, away from the stress and civilization yet offer you a great selection of activities and Eco-adventures such as Sea-Kayaking, Hiking, Diving and Snorkeling to make your stay unforgettable.

The Guesthouse is run completely by solar energy as being as Eco-friendly as possible is of utmost importance to us. There is enough electricity for all your necessities like light, fan computers, refrigeration etc. What we do ask from you, is to please turn everything off when not needed or when you leave the room for environmental reasons. Our hot water is also produced by a solar installation and there is enough hot water to get over cloudy periods of 4 to 6 days.

One other thing that makes us “unique” is that there is NO access by road, only by a footpath which leads through the surrounding vegetation up to the garden. Now don´t worry… your luggage will be taken to the guesthouse by us.

For your comfort and security we’re staffed 24 hours a day by our on-site owner/manager.

It is the right place for you if you are looking for a family style accommodation run by friendly people which gives you the pleasure of living on a Caribbean Island in a very peaceful and Eco friendly setting with amazing views.

Your perfect Island retreat and Eco-adventure outpost!

My boyfriend and I spent a week at Roland's Garden Guesthouse in January 2014. From the moment we got in touch to book our stay until we left his gorgeous island, Roland did everything he could and more to make us feel like home and so we did. I am saying "his island" because Roland is a walking encyclopedia of Guanaja. Wether it is history, geography, flora or fauna that you are into...just go on a hike with him and you'll get your fix of knowledge and nature beauty. Roland is a wanderer, a free spirit and, as we found out later, he has the soul of a poet. The people we met there, mostly locals are as lovely as him including his family so it is almost impossible not to go back. Roland's bed and breakfast is run on solar power and beautifully built. His love and therefore understanding of Nature is visible at every step one takes on his property. We wished our vacation there didn't end and we said good-bye as friends.

Roland User Profile

Roland was born in germany in 1983. When Roland was 12 years old his family decided to move to Honduras to start a new life in the tropics, away from the rainy and grey Europe. After some years in La Ceiba, Honduras, they decided to move to the beautiful Island of Guanaja where they had friends in need of some helping hands. That´s where Roland had his first contact with Sea Kayaking, diving and the beautiful hiking trails all over the Island. But time went by and eventually Roland had to take a decision about what he wanted to study. An apprentice ship in German Cabinet and Furniture making was the final choice, and Roland moved back to Germany, but left his heart behind on Guanaja. After many years of doing very successful woodwork he decided it was finally time to go HOME to his jewel in the Caribbean. Since 2011 he is back in Guanaja, now running his Guesthouse Bed & Breakfast, and showing travelers and tourists the most beautiful spots on “his” island.
