Five of us girls stayed at Chippewa for 6 nights and we honestly wouldn't have stayed any other place in negril. John and Nadine are so welcoming and treated us like family. John went out of his way to make us dinner one night and sent us in the right direction with everything we needed. It's in a perfect location if you're looking for close access to the beach and good local places to eat and drink. The place is even better than the photos. It is a very authentic and safe place to stay and would definitely recommend it.

Chippewa was a perfect base for our Jamaican adventure. John was a gracious and generous host. He communicated well and was very attentive and helpful. The house was clean, well organized - the perfect beach house. Nadine was super helpful and kept the place so tidy - we came home to fresh towels and clean floors, and she even did our family laundry for a reasonable fee. The house is situated well, with excellent restaurants next door and probably the best stretch of the best beach in Jamaica right across the road. Even though Negril attracts a party, Chippewa is nestled back behind some beautiful bamboos, giving it a very quiet and peaceful location.

John was a really helpful and friendly host. Chappewa Village is very nice and clean. Just cross the road and you are at the ocean. Or just go to the garden and relax at the pool. There is a cleaning lady who cleaned the apartment regularly and even did our laundry. This is good value for your money!

3 friends and I stayed here for a week in the big house. 3 bedrooms. It was perfect for us. We are simple easy going travelers. John set up transport from the airport to Negril. He was there to greet us and showed us the place. He was very nice and accommodating. John told us about a resort across the street that was on the beach that allowed us to rent a chair on the beach as long as we ate there. Food was great. The rental fee was credited to our food bill. Their staff was awesome to us! Every day on the beach. The place was as it shows in the pictures. Cute, simple and clean. All appliances worked. We did not cook there because the beach vendors and places to eat were great! We spent the day on a gorgeous beach and had a comfortable bed right across the street. Overall it was a great value! We all decided we would come back again. Thanks John!

Our family stayed at the mainhouse for 7 days in january 2017. I´m sorry to say that I don´t recommend this place. There was Lizards and other insects in the buildning. The oven was not usable and it was raining into one of the bedrooms. The warmvater came sporadically and som days not at all. The surroundings were very shabby, and there were no café or restaurant.

Response from John:
Some guests are describing the Mainhouse as a lovely place and a great experience. We are sorry you had a different feeling but the fact that you never reported a problem during your 7 days stay did not helped. Lizards are in the outdoor nature and we cannot kill them all for you, a door left open for a short time can be their way in. For insect we treat regularly. Other matters have been addressed. The water under the door was due to a really heavy rain and wind blowing. No leaking from the roof. The place is rustic and good value for money. Cafè and restaurants are nearby walking distance.

Four of my grandchildren (three twenty-somethings and a teenager) stayed in the three-bedroom unit and loved it. They appreciated the gracious host, the friendly dog, the effective air conditioning, and watching the morning sunrise over the mountains beyond the morass. The apartment had a kitchen with a stove and a small refrigerator, and the property had an attractive swimming pool. The apartment is far enough from the road that no road noise was heard. Perhaps above all, they reveled in the laid-back vibe that brought young adults to Negril in the 1970s and 1980s before all-inclusives and crowded beaches. The price was half that of traditional hotels. The outstanding rating is for properties somewhere between a youth hostel and a four-star hotel. Those looking for the amenities of a traditional hotel may be disappointed. There is no access for the handicapped. The Wi-Fi does not cover the entire property. The buildings are rustic, and two of the bedrooms in the apartment had curtains rather than doors. There is no formal beach access, although people find a way to the gorgeous seven-mile beach less than a quarter-mile away. Nevertheless it is perfect for the young and the young-at-heart. My grandchildren are eager to return.

I came to Jamaica in the early 70's and opened Chippewa Village Apartments and Cottages. Kept a feet in my homeland too where I've been working out of Los Angeles USA as a fashion and interior designer. I will be glad to have you here! Expect an informal and tranquil location in …
