The space

Close to Eugene, Oregon, our cozy, cottage-style home in Springfield has two private rooms--this listing has a double bed with a TV and basic cable. A larger second bedroom has a queen bed and no TV (a separate listing). We have one shared bathroom in the house which has a tub/shower.

Accommodations are best suited for 1 or 2 guests in the Double Room, with the possibility (ask first) of additional guest(s) in the small reading and game room that has a futon.

We have a well-behaved Yorkshire Terrier, Blair, who is curious but quite polite after she meets and greets you. She doesn’t shed and doesn't go in the extra rooms. (I am highly allergic to shedding animals but I experience no symptoms with her.) We have outdoor kitties that get fed on the back porch but don't come inside the house.

Guest access

For short stays of one or two nights, a light breakfast will be provided each morning, with coffee or tea available--and if you're lucky, on Saturday or Sunday you might be treated to Chuck's Dutch Baby pancakes if he's home. For stays of three nights or more, we'll provide breakfast on your first day (or weekend if your first day is during the work week).

You also have shared access to the kitchen to prepare coffee or tea at any time, as well as store food or beverages in a small, dorm-sized refrigerator. If you wish to cook meals, let us know in advance so we can prepare space for you.

The reading and game room serves as a common area, great for reading, with books and games. Guests have private use of this room. Though it is a pass-through area for our family to get to the back yard, we try not to use it much when our guests are at home.

In nice weather, the back porch and yard are available to you. A fire pit is ready for a camp fire, telling stories, or making S’mores.

You are welcome to watch TV or read in our main living room with us if you'd like.

Interaction with guests

When we travel, we like our privacy, so we are sensitive to that in our guests. However, socializing is fun too, and we've thoroughly enjoyed every guest we've had. We take the lead from you.

Other things to note

Check in on Saturday and Sunday is 1 p.m. On Monday through Friday, because we both work, check-in is 5 pm--sometimes one of us can leave work early to check you in earlier if needed. So just ask; we'll accommodate whenever we can.

Check-out on single-night stays ON WEEKDAYS ONLY is 8:30 AM. Check-out on multiple-night stays and Saturday and Sundays is 11 AM, but again we'll be flexible whenever we can.

Let us know what you need when you book. Other amenities? Just ask! Many things are possible.

Great place to stay, like a British bed and breakfast.

Bonnie and Chuck are extremely hospitable! We arrived to a warm welcome followed by complimentary cookies, a lovely breakfast, and a clean, comfortable, and private room. Not only were our hosts wonderful but their dog Blaire is extremely friendly and playful, and their two outdoor cats were very willing to receive pets if we ventured onto the porch. One of the best experiences I have had at a airbnb and well worth stepping out of my normal price range!

Chuck and Bonnie are wonderful hosts. They got in touch with us in advance, so they could be there when we arrived. They immediately made us feel welcome and at home. The room was clean and comfortable and very affordable. It was perfect as a stopover for us, and should we be passing their way again, we'll definitely consider staying with them.

Chuck and Bonnie were lovely hosts with great attention to detail! We spent the eclipse with them and Bonnie reached out to me in advance about eclipse glasses. They left delicious cookies out for us, upon arrival and sweet notes on our doors about breakfast and other kindnesses. We felt lucky to have them as hosts! Their home is clean, their puppy is adorable, and they aren't very far from city center! If you're lucky enough to stay with them, do!

This was my first Air B& B experience and it was great. I recently moved to Seattle from Los Angeles and needed a place to rest after 15 hours on the road. With hotels and motels too expensive to book for the weekend in Eugene and surrounding areas my friend suggested Air B& B . Very happy with the accommodations, very comfortable room, perfect for the nights rest which is really all we needed. We wish we could have stayed longer as they left us some nice tour pamphlets of the area. If I ever am in Springfield/Eugene I would definitely stay with Chuck and Bonnie again. Oh and yes I had to add Chuck's breakfast was delicious.

Chuck and Bonnie are lovely people with a lovely home. It smelled so nice and clean inside! They were very accomodating, explained things well, had a really nice clean room ready for us AND we were lucky enough to enjoy Chuck's delicious breakfast! I can't say enough good things about the hosts and their beautiful home. :)

We love hosting people in our home, cooking and eating good food together. In warm weather, our backyard and porch are relaxing places to share stories, food, and games with friends, family, and guests. We love to read, walk our Yorkie, garden, sip coffee, and spend time with people we love. We are active in our church, neighborhood, and community. A favorite hobby of Chuck's is playing the harmonica in a church worship band. Practice in our music room means sharing space with the washer, dryer, several guitars, and a lovely old piano.
