Rooms in a rustic inn on Belleisle Bay at Hatfield Pt. Ideal as a getaway, near winery, waterfalls, great hiking, winter and summer sports. Groups welcome. Backpackers and workers on local contracts will enjoy the ambience.
Pleasant-View has been an Inn since the 1790's. The rooms are simple, the beds are doubles and each room has a river view. On each floor, a shared bathroom with shower. Built to serve the riverboat trade and extended for mill workers, it was a day trip from Saint John when the last boat sailed in the early 1940s.
For the time you are our guest, Pleasant-View is your home, too. Smoking is not permitted. We welcome long term stays and work crews as well a those passing through our beautiful valley.
Interaction with guests
Two restaurants within a 10 minute drive but close at 9 PM. Please on route before arrival as there is limited food preparation area, no local shops for purchasing food items and limited refrigerator space. We offer breakfast at no cost.
Other things to note
Boats can moor at the wharf directly in front of Inn. Kayak and canoes welcome. Ideal base for winter snowshoeing, cross country skiing or snowmobiles.
For those who want a country experience that does not include insects, read this first. There are tiny, flying insects that appear about 6 o’clock on a warm night and remain attracted to lights well after sunset are chironomides. They are our local “no see ums”. They are not related to mosquitoes and do not bite. They are not vectors for disease. They appear to exist to feed birds, fish and spiders. Sometimes called midges, they reside near water, especially in areas where there is high mineral content in rocks. They live for about a day and then die trying to get through screens or by bumping into light sources or old age at 48 hours! No matter how they succumb, they are not attractive in their final repose. Daily, we wipe the interior window frames and sills but their tiny bodies stack up. If these critters are a problem for you, please let us know. Noting that bugs were present a PleasantView in your review does not serve us well and does the chironomides an injustice.
Guests are expected to be civil, not hesitant in pitching in and ready to enjoy rural New Brunswick. Pets are not accommodated. This is a rustic family home that happens to have once been a country inn. It is not the Ritz or Motel 8 - it is comfortable and home-like.
