Les Préludes is a charming XVII-century shepherds house that has been completely renovated and decorated in authentic style. You can either rent a complete house for 2 to 4 persons on weekly base or an en suite bed and breakfast room for 2 per night.

The space

Les Préludes is situated in the small and quiet hamlet Ussel, where you'll enjoy the peace and the beauty of nature around.
You'll be able to make wonderful walks in the hills or in the vallée de la Cèze, and to swim and rest at the river Cèze closeby.

Guest access

The view from the terrace on the orchard and the green hills is magnificent.
If you like to play or listen to music, you'll enjoy the grand pianos in the bergerie (barn) of les Préludes.

The picturesque village Goudargues is only 2 km away, you'll get your groceries at its market or stores, drink a pastis along the canal, or eat on the terrace of one of the nice restaurants.

From les Préludes, you'll be able to visit Uzès, Avignon, le Pont du Gard, Nîmes, l'Aven d'Orgnac, Provence, Ardêche, etc...

We (two adults, two kids 10 and 7), had an absolutely wonderful week. Peaceful and spacious, close to nature and yet everything you need within reach. We enjoyed Olivier's and Reinouts hospitality very much. The kids loved the jacuzzi, the donkeys and the river nearby. We'd highly recommend it!

We (family of four) stayed at Les Préludes for a week and we enjoyed it tremendously: the apartment was nice and cousy, the interior and exterior was beautiful and contained a lot of lovely details - typical for the way Reinout and Olivier receive their visitors. They provided us with information, they were there when we needed them and they were simply excellent hosts. The river where you can swim is only ten minutes away and in the nearby village you can buy most things you need. Most tourist attractions (Cascades du Sautadet, Pont d'Arc, Ardèche) are at close distance. Les Préludes is a great refuge after a day full activities on the water or elsewhere.

We (a family of 4, boys aged 10 and 6) spent 10 days at Les Preludes - a wonderful time: We can warmly recommend the house. The house and the surroundings are as described. Kitchen, sitting room, two bedrooms and bathroom are designed and furnished with great taste and attention to detail. The terrace with a view of the surrounding hills is particularly lovely. The bathroom with shower is directly adjacent to one of two bedrooms, and can only be closed off with a cloth curtain. It's charmingly done and fully functional, and was certainly fine for us, it's just something you should know if you consider sharing the house with another couple. Olivier and Reinout are incredibly welcoming and attentive hosts. The atmosphere is relaxed and quiet. We felt very well looked after. We found the location particularly well suited for walking (excellent maps provided), canoing and bathing (direct access to a lonely pebble beach by the river Cèze).

Dear olivier and Reynout Thank you for your hospitality, your house is truly breath taking, The dinner’s on the terrace will be a great memory of this place. I realy thinks the “Airbnb” photos underestimate the beauty of your home. I definitely recommend this beautiful and peaceful charming area and this airbnb to anyone who is looking for a relaxing vacation in provence. Thank again Eden and Ehud.

We had a wonderful time at the Preludes. The place is simply beautiful and perfectly located, close to a charming village. You can start your day with a swim in a lovely river (a 10 mn walk!) and then enjoy your breakfast from the terrace with a gorgeous view. Olivier and Reynout fantastic hosts and we sincerely appreciated the care and attention they dedicated to build their little paradise's corner. We hope to return!

Where do I begin? We were greeted by Reinout, Olivier's partner. He is an adorable person and so welcoming. I cannot rave enough about this apartment! It truly was fantastic. Every detail was a treasure to explore. I absolutely loved the quiet location. The hameau (enclave) itself is incredible - we were surrounded by purples irises and the most tastefully decorated rooms I've ever seen. Reinhout had prepared us a "table d'hotes" meal that was delicious and a scrumptious dessert to boot! We sat on our terrace each night simply loving nature and the peacefulness of the area. Our kitchen was fully equipped with everything from coffee and tea to pretty dishtowels and scented soaps. You can tell that this residence was lovingly restored - it's a dream spot! For anyone needing a TV, this is not the place for you but if you love natural beauty and comfort, by all means this is the perfect location and I highly recommend it. The WiFi functioned well and was nice to have when needed. I will most definitely plan a trip back.

Thanks Aya for your very nice comment! Next time you'll be here, and there would be a rainy day, I will invite you to watch a movie projected on our big screen! :-) e.g. " A year in Provence" ? A bientôt! Olivier, Reinout, Hector & Pesto

We enjoyed our stay at Les Preludes immensely. The setting is absolutely beautiful: nestled in a small winding road up the hill, surrounded by perfectly manicured stone houses. The house... It is hard to find the words to describe it, for it is absolutely stunning. The 2 story apartment we stayed in is part of a larger house where the owner lives. Fully renovated interior, with the outer charm of a stone house built in the late 1600's. The kitchen had so many antique treasures that it made us feel like we had traveled in time. And the terrace was by far our absolute favorite. We spent most of our day there, enjoying the sun and a glass of wine. The owner was kind enough to cook for us the day we arrived, which was perfect as we arrived tired and with a small child. I would highly recommend this property and hope I get to visit it again some day.
