Family house slap bang in the centre of Northampton - yet surprisingly quiet. Well decorated ground floor bedroom with hotel-grade bed: stairs down to new private bathroom and private sitting/eating room. Kitchenette/utility room with kettle, toaster, microwave and fridge. We provide tea, coffee, milk, bread etc. but not breakfast since there are so many cafes within a few minutes' walk.

The space
The bedroom has a 5ft wide double bed with a quality headboard, stylish décor and a TV. The building is Victorian so the ceiling is high and the window is large with a blackout roller blind. The floor is polished hardwood with rugs. Bathrobes are provided. Downstairs, the bathroom is newly installed (2017) and the unusually cosy basement areas are all newly decorated and carpeted. Next to bathroom is a private room for guests with table, 2 dining chairs, desk light and an easy chair. The kitchenette/utility room has microwave, toaster, kettle & fridge but no hob. There's also a washing machine and dryer.

Guest access
Private bedroom, private bathroom, private sitting/eating room. Shared utility room/kitchenette. No access to house above ground floor

The house is right in the centre of Northampton but is surprisingly quiet. All the facilities of a good-sized town are within walking distance. There are many cafes, restaurants, pubs, clubs, shops, Post Office and banks only minutes away. Morrison's supermarket (and petrol) is very close, too. Because we are town centre, parking outside the house is pay and display. (Free between 7pm and 7am only .) We are very near Northampton General Hospital, Royal & Derngate Theatres, the Errol Flynn Cinema, the new University campus, Guildhall, Council Offices, Avon etc. Charles Rennie MacKintosh house at 78 Derngate is round the corner.

I'm a retired TV Producer, born and bred in London but have lived in various cities in England and Scotland. After leaving the television production business my wife and I owned and ran hotels for some years - rather good hotels, though I say it myself - so I know a bit about looking after guests. This property is our home however, and is definitely not a hotel! I look forward to welcoming guests on a more casual basis than before.
