Stay in a beautiful cabin in a unique and private location. Experience Banks Peninsula by treating yourself to a stay at our coastal retreat about 3km from Akaroa. Our cabin has walking only access through native bush with magnificent sea views. The cabin is very cosy and has a queen bed, outside covered veranda/deck with kitchen/BBQ, private bathroom, private outdoor spa bath, air-conditioning, DVD/CD player and Bluetooth stereo.

The space
The cabin is nestled on a hill overlooking the Akaroa Harbour. It is the most secluded place to stay on our rural seaside property surrounded by lots of regenerating native forest (bush).
It is a self contained tiny house with a queen bed, couch, separate bathroom with shower and eco-friendly toilet, microwave, fridge, toaster and jug. The cabin has a BBQ and sink outside on the veranda. Note: (We do not permit use of guests’ own camping cookers). It is well equipped with air-conditioning, DVDs/CDs, stereo, books and magazines. Very quiet and warm.

The private spa bath (hot tub) is available for use between 3pm and 9pm in the evening and between 7am to 10am in the morning.

Guest access
The guests have their own roadside carpark. There is a 300m scenic walk, with panoramic harbour views, to the cabin accommodation. We highly recommend the guests have a reasonable level of walking fitness, good footwear and use a small backpack rather than a suitcase.

There is a short outside walk from the bedroom to the bathroom/eco-friendly toilet.
Please note: there is no guest access to the loft in the cabin. The woodburner is not able to be used but we have a heatpump installed.

It is not possible to directly walk to the beach from our property. Onuku Marae is the closest place to walk on the beach.

Other things to note
Your cabin is about a 300 metre walk from where you park on the roadside.

As our coastal property is situated on a steep hill, guests must have a reasonable level of fitness and no walking disabilities. i.e. capable of walking on a moderate grade hike/tramp.

Check-in is strictly between 3pm and 9pm.

If there are 2 guests staying then we require both guests to be there at check-in. No extra persons/ friends are permitted to visit the property during the stay without prior permission from the hosts.

We do NOT allow guests to bring or use their own gas or any type of fuelled camping stoves on our property. Also candles are not to be used inside or outside the cabin due to fire risk. No fires or open flames anywhere on the property at any time of the year.

Akaroa Harbour is famous as the summer playground of Hector's dolphins, the world’s smallest and rarest species. The Akaroa Coastal Cabin is close to the start of the Banks Peninsula track and handy to other walks, restaurants, cafes, boutique shopping, museum, wineries and a variety of outdoor activities including scenic harbour cruises, swimming with dolphins, kayaking, golf, horse riding, tennis, bowls, sailing, fishing, and cycling.
