One couple or single only. No children.
Well equipped kitchen with some basic food supplies, dishwasher, fridge, icebox, filtered rainwater, gas hob, toaster, slow cooker, electric frypan; linen; and toiletries included.
WiFi, TV, DVDs, touchscreen computer, books.

The space
Beech Bach is a tiny house that doesn't feel so tiny. It has stunning views over Paterson Inlet to Ulva Island. With just the road separating the bach from the golden sands of Watercress Beach.
The main building is 10m long and 3m wide with a shower room, bedroom, kitchen/living area. There is a large covered, partially closed in porch area through which the laundry and toilet are accessed.
We have re-used and upcycled some of the original fittings and features as well as a number of "treasures" (or old junk) in ways they may not have been intended - make sure you read the rudder in the loo.
You will find a range of varieties and flavours of teas and coffee (plunger and instant); good shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, hand wash and shower gel; basic cooking supplies including milk; use of the car (please refuel on leaving); premium linen; wifi; TV with Freeview and DVDs.

Guest access
Guests have full access to the entire bach and all appliances. (Except washing machine in times of extreme water crisis)
Stewart Island relies on rainwater. When tanks are full we are happy for you to do a wash. When water supplies are under stress we ask you to wait until you get back to the mainland. Due to limited drying we do ask that you don't arrive on the Island with loads of laundry to do. Thanks for understanding.

Other things to note
Most of the time the TV works and most of the time there is cellphone/mobile data/wifi reception. Sometimes there isn't. This is atmospheric and satellite related. No amount of fiddling with controls will help. If wifi doesn't work it is available at the library.
Despite having a wet climate we do ask for water conservation as the water is collected on the roof which is quite small.
Petrol is around $2.65 per litre.

With only one house close by and just across the road from the beach and boat sheds and boat ramp, Beech Bach is a little isolated but always has plenty going on. There are several walks close by, lots of birds and wildlife, boats and other watercraft in the bay. You may be lucky enough to see dolphins, sea lions or penguins. Guided kayak tours and kayak hire operate from one of the sheds opposite.

After 17 years farming followed by 17 years developing and running a 5* BnB and tours, Richard and I are now enjoying life on the road in various parts of the world. Sometimes that may make us difficult to contact. We both enjoy bush walks, travel and adventures. Our favourite kind of travel is off the beaten track to find the lesser known special places and experiences. Our Stewart Island property is also off the beaten track. We have been hands on with the renovation. We have reused and recycled various parts of the old building and treasures found in and around it, in the renovation. You will spot some of these like old cutlery, used in quirky ways. We don't believe that life is a race to the finish line. We do believe in living it to the full. Sometimes that means taking time out from the rat race. Stewart Island is perfect for that.
