Potential guests should be careful to guard their valuables with extreme care. should they chose to gamble on staying here. The owner has sticky fingers. The accommodation is satisfactory, although the use of the kitchen is sharply limited because the owner has not activated the gas stove for cooking. The owner shared his information bout the city and environs freely. But that is where the positive elements of our five-day stayed ended. Only minutes after our departure, my wife realized she had inadvertently left behind $300 in U.S. dollars in a bank envelop under the bed mattress. We returned to this B & B immediately, 15 minutes or so after our departure, fully expecting to find the owner and retrieve the cash. But the owner failed to answer the doorbell, although it was his routine to clean up after a departure. A passerby helpfully used her cell phone to telephone the owner. No answer. We yelled "Michele! Michele!" to the opened second floor apartment windows. Nothing. We went across the street to the Post Office and reported our dilemma to Michele's friend, who also telephoned him and also failed to receive a response. Strange, because Michele always answered his phone, expecting visitor inquiries. His PO friend provided a couple waiting for service with the address to Michele's nearby residence and we went there, reached his wife who also tried unsuccessfully to elicit a response. Even stranger. She told us she would meet us at the B&B, and within minutes she arrived and yelled (as well as her 8-year old daughter) from the street, "Michele!" Finally, Michele appeared on the balcony and let us in. But what he told us was astounding. No, he claimed, he did not find any money. Oh, yes, he said, he found the bank envelop but did not look inside, and threw it away in a trash dumpster in a lot behind the building. We asked him to accompany us to the trash bin to search. He refused. We then found trash in a receptical under the sink, and asked why he did not dump this outside when he supposedly carried out the other "trash." He had no answer. Instead, had had the gall to say we had made the mistake, and it was all our fault. Would you trust to stay with this owner?
