Self contained detached stone cottage.
Immaculately presented, the cottage is very private and has magnificent garden, mountain and lake panoramic views.
Large bedroom upstairs with a super king bed and a small en-suite. Downstairs is the living room with a kitchenette.
The cottage is located in a quiet neighbourhood, 4km from the town centre and 500m from Penrith Beach. Walking, hiking and mountain bike trails are all close.

The space
The bedroom is decorated in quality furnishings with a super king bed.

Please note the bedroom is not set up for cooking. We have provided a fridge, toaster, plates and utensils for breakfast in the room and for any food you bring with you. Complimentary Nespresso, instant coffee, tea, bread, preserves, yoghurt and muesli is provided.
Downstairs there is a living room with 3 piece suite and small dining table. In addition there is a small kitchenette with a fridge and basic cooking facilities. These include a combination microwave oven (can be used as oven, grill, microwave or a combination) and a hot plate along with kettle, pots and pans etc. Please note there is no traditional stove.
The laundry is located downstairs (washing machine and dryer) and this facility is shared with the owners.
The lawn at the side of the cottage is also an ideal place to read a book and relax on a summer day.

Guest access
Private entry via a gravel path to the upstairs room of the stone cottage. A key lockbox is located at the base of the stairs. Unfortunately, we do not have wheelchair access.
Parking is on the road beside the path.

Please note the upstairs and downstairs are not connected by an internal staircase and access is achieved via the outside stairs and path.

A few things to do

Walk around the foreshore of the lake to Waterfall Creek and photograph the iconic Wanaka Tree.

If you are skiing in the Cardrona valley (by Snow Farm or Cardrona Ski Resort) drive down the hill and stop off at one of New Zealand’s oldest and eclectic hotels. The Cardona Hotel is great for après ski drinks, lunch or diner.

If whiskey making is your thing, visit The Distillery at 2125 Cardrona Valley Road. Open from 9.30am – 5pm.

Eat homemade ice-cream and cookies at Cinema Paradiso. Or snuggle under a blanket with a glass of wine in the snug at Ruby’s cinema.

If you are a classic car or plane enthusiast, visit Warbirds and Wheels, which is only 10 mins drive from town located at the Wanaka Airport. Open 8.00am – 4pm 7 days per week.

If you want to treat yourself, go heliskiing or take a scenic helicopter flight. aspiringhelicopter.co.nz Phone 03 443 7152

Take a hike up Roys Peak, Rocky Mountain or Rob Roy Glacier….but check the weather forecast first!!! Closer to town go for a stroll up and around Mt Iron, which if you are relatively fit should be an hours round trip.

If you want a road trip out of town, head towards Makarora and visit the gorgeous Blue Pools. It is about 1 hours drive away and is off the Haast Highway. See the Department of Conservation website for more details.

If you want to be aMAZEed visit Puzzling World for something a wee bit off kilter.

Hire a bike and cycle one of the lake trails towards Glendu Bay or the other way towards Albert Town. If in Albert Town search the suburban streets for the Double Black café which is a locals favourite. Bike Hire – Outside Sports, Racers Edge and The Bike Lounge.

And if you want more adventurous mountain-biking head towards Sticky Forest or do a lap of the Deans Bank Track in the Albert Town campground.

And foodwise have breakfast at Relishes, coffee at Ritual, a cheese scone at Federal Diner, Croque Monsier at Florences, people watch over a beer at Kai Whakapai on the waterfront, polenta chips at Francescas, slow cooked lamb at The Big Fig, sexy squid legs at Sasanoki, a 5 course (sourced from local ingredients) trust the chef menu at Ode, shared plates at Kika, a local Maude Pinot wine over a platter during the day at Bistro Gentile followed by 5 star dining at night……all sooo good!!! The decisions are endless ☺

We moved to Wanaka for the outdoor lifestyle over 13 years ago and have not regretted that decision ever. We have two older children who grew up relishing skiing and mountain biking. We enjoy cycling, tramping and skiing and all that Wanaka's lifestyle provides.
