Beautiful house in a beautiful location. Well placed for exploring the area but just as perfect for a day at the beach or sitting on the porch enjoying the garden. Very private, yet near amenities. Plenty of walks and a totally unspoilt beach. We had a lovely family holiday and would recommend Arthur and Maria's tasteful house to anyone who is planning a trip to Normandy!

This is a perfect home for people who appreciate silence, nature and beautiful things. It is beautifully furnished and prudently equipped with everything one needs - and a bit more. Be it kitchen equipment, washing machine, dryer, dishwasher, barbecue, WLAN, fireplace, bathroom heating, etc etc. It is a house with a soul, and you can feel that loving people live in it. It is the last house in a small street which leads directly into the dunes and to the gigantic beach and the sea, where you can take splendid walks. It has a beautiful porch and a big, closed and nice garden, where kids and dogs are safe. The owners are very friendly, caring, relaxed and generous. We felt immediately at home and spent a splendid time here - we'll be back as soon as we can! The only bad thing about it is that eventually you'll have to leave - which is not easy!

A house full of charme, you can sense the hospitality of the owners. The terrace is a great place to sit and relax and the garden is marvelous. The right place for people that want to relax and enjoy tranquility and nature (a lot of nature around the house). A place that want to come back to.

Arthur welcomed us very friendly and told us what we need to know about the house, the heating, the kitchen equipment and he prepared the bedroom for us. All in all we had a wonderful time at the house near the dunes. The house is really nice located at the end of the street and we enjoyed to walk up the path directly to the dunes. The wood stove was very charming and made the house even more cozier. Hatainville itself is pretty small and (in the wintertime) very calm and we didnt see a lot of peoples around there. For grocery shopping we drove in the next village and for shopping (clothes etc.) we went to Cherbourg or even better to Caen (1h 40min). In Caen there is a pretty big shopping mall (Mondeville 2). For our departure Arthur gave us the oppurtunity to leave earlier because of bad wheater conditions. We were very happy that he was okay with that and that we could leave without someone who checked everything before we leave. Thank you so much for trusting us!! I hope we didn't disappoint you. Thank you for the time in your house!! We would love to come back maybe in summertime next year.

We had a wonderful time at this amazing place! The house is beautiful and very cozy. The kitchen is very well equipped and they have a very good bbq. The location of the house is amazing. Just at the beginning of a big nature reserve. In the master bedroom there is a beautiful view over the dunes. The owners made a great guide about the house and its surroundings. The walk to the beach from the house was a bit far with 2 small kids but you can just jump in the car and a couple of minutes later you're at a beautiful beach. Lovely place! We highly recommend it!!!

Finding an nice house in Normandy in winter is not easy. It gets difficult when 4 adults are travelling with 3 dogs. Maria & Arthur are incredible friendly hosts who answered our question concerning the number of toilets that there was one only but that they thought of including another in the upstairs bathroom anyway. Which they did. Wow! The back to the tiny little village of Hatainville the house faces the Dunes d'Hatainville a nature preserve with stunning beauty, peace and calm. You walk accross it when going app. 20-30 min to the sea. Plenty of nature walks, perfect for hikers, nature lovers and dogs. Appart from some restricted areas dogs are allowed without the leash. The house is not between the dunes and the sea, litteraly, but between the dunes and the village. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to get there by car. A well-equipped Carrefour supermarket is 7 minutes by car. The house is exceptional tastefully decorated, has nearly everything you need and has a special, warm atmosphere. If you don't know how to operate a chimney yet, you will learn it quickly, we did. I would have liked to take home the beautiful vintage dinner table that sits 10. Wooden terrace, huge closed in garden with fig trees and herbs... a home for body and soul, a romantic hideaway. We are experienced vacation home and France travelers, first time with Airbnb though. Most vacation homes are the second houses of someone, but never before did we have so little store room especially in the kitchen. This may be special with the Airbnb concept. The upper bedroom has plenty of wardrobe space, the lower has little. We stored our food in boxes on the floor in the big kitchen, where there's all you need, from salt, spices to kitchen tools and pots. The housekeeper welcomed us warmly, but the house was cold. She did not know how to light the fire in the chimney, she said. Later Arthur wrote, she had forgotten to do it. So there might be some communication problems. I explicitly asked about linen and towels beforehand and was told, both were included. On our arrival there were linen but no towels. After a phone call we received one bathtowel per person with the information, that towels had been stolen which sure is a bad thing. I can understand that changes had to be made. We purchased towels. Just a little communication problem - but the good things shine much brighter!!! Moreover it is absolutely legitimate to change the extent of items that can be used. I would simpy recommend to make it the other way round to prevent irritation: first change the written information then make the changes. Just my two cents. We received delicious biscuits as Christmas present and were not charged us for a coffee cup that was chipped. Very nice, thank you! No house is perfect. But this one is pretty close. Would we come back? Definitely!

This house is wonderful! If you want to escape from city life and spend your holidays in nature - it's the best place you can choose in Normandy! We spend a wonderful time with our kids and friends! The house, garden, dunes, beach – everything is perfect here! The house is beautifully decorated, safe and well equipped. It contains really everything you need. Everything! In bathrooms and bedrooms there is a lot of space for your clothes and other things. In both big bedrooms beds are huge and really comfortable. The kitchen is big and very well equipped – not only pots and plates but even herbs, spices, olive oils… The garden is beautiful and well maintained. Everything here is fresh and clean. Dunes and the sea are really amazing! There is a lot of wild animals on dunes (rabbits, birds, etc.) and no people! Just you and sounds of nature. The beach is huge (during low tide even about 1 km wide) and there is always only couple of people on it. But sometimes you can even be alone… I don’t agree with previous comment. Getting the sea is 15-20 minutes walk even with small kids. Getting back also 20, if you choose right path… And yes – you have to drive to Carteret to buy some food but who expects shopping in the middle of nature…? This is plus not minus! So it’s great place. Nearest villages Carteret and Barnville are small and nice and you can find there supermarket, backeries and other small shops. And of course few nice restaurants. The owners Marie and Arthur are very nice and helpful. I’m truly recommend this house. We will back for sure! Thank you Marie and Arthur!
