This is a difficult review to write. Let's get right down to what you really need to know: Book it.
La Maison de Lise is an exceptional centuries-old building, modernized with an incredible eye for design, to the highest levels of functionality and comfort. The rooms are elegantly simple and every inch has been carefully considered almost as if what you want is being provided seconds before you want it. The pictures, like a work of art, as good as they look, do not do this B&B justice.
As comfortable and enjoyable as the B&B is alone -- and you could enjoy it just for that -- it would be a shame to miss an equally enjoyable part of staying here: Diego and Carla (who speak Italian, French, and a fair amount of English at least). We were greeted with drinks on the patio, with a French couple who were also guests, and spoke at length in various languages as if this is just what we always do on this day of the week. We were at the disadvantage, speaking English and little more, but not once did we feel anything less than friends around the table. These are exceptional people who I hope to see again.
The building is tastefully decorated with hints of the owners love of classic rock, in the garage 2 beautiful examples of American motorcycles (with the same level of detail appointed to them), and a quiet little town center within walking distance with some great food. Our short stay only included the B&B the breakfast, which far exceed our expectations for a buffet. We missed dinner enjoying wine on the patio!
This being my first trip to Italy, within 20 minutes of crossing Little St Bernard Pass from France, I couldn't imagine a better way to be welcomed than our stay at La Maison de Lise B&B. We will create a reason to return.
