The space

This beautiful property log home / lodge nestled in the Cherokee National Forest is the perfect home base to experience all of the great outdoor beauty, activities and adventures southeastern Tennessee has to offer -- hiking, biking, motorcycling, kayaking, fishing, tubing, white water rafting, gold panning, horseback riding, geocaching, sightseeing, and more! After a day of exploring, you can stretch out and relax right in nature's back yard -- with all of the comforts and the warm feel of home!

Our beautiful property in the mountains features:
* A peaceful natural setting with 12 private acres of woods to explore
* A gorgeous, front-row view of the mountains
* Central location -- near many outdoor activities, hikes and waterfalls, scenic highways and sightseeing venues
* Spacious rooms and a comfy, home environment
* Expansive porches, complete with your choice of wooden swings, hammock chairs and rockers
* A rustic fire circle, great for late-night campfires and s'mores
* An attentive on-site host and two very cute and friendly doggie hosts to help ensure you have an awesome experience!

The spacious master suite is bright and cheerful and has a great view of the mountains. The room is nicely appointed with a queen-sized bed, a reading chair and lamp, and a large dresser and chest of drawers. The adjoining private bathroom features a double-sink vanity, a jetted bathtub and a separate shower stall. You won't be hurting for either space or comfort in this sweet log home suite!

Guest access

In addition to the master suite, houseguests have access to the front and back porches, the living room, and the kitchen and dinette common areas.

The large, open living room features high ceilings with beautiful hewn log beams and an impressive stone fireplace (gas log). Multiple recliners and a sofa are ready to hug your travel-weary body or to gather with others to share your daily adventures. A large-screen television is also available for your entertainment on a first-come, first-served basis.

The kitchen opens to the living room and features ample counter space and a breakfast bar. A four-seat dinette table beside the bay window is the perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee or a light meal. Guests also have access to the kitchen refrigerator and pantry (approximately one shelf per party in each) for food storage. The range and microwave may be used for simple food preparation.

A formal dining room is available for special gatherings with consent of the host. Laundry facilities are available for a nominal load fee. The house is equipped with WiFi DSL service. Though it's not super fast, it's plenty fast enough to handle basic internet needs with ease. If you get any cell phone service here, you'll be lucky. So, if you're addicted to your cell phone and must get your messages in a timely manner, make plans accordingly.

Interaction with guests

Lauren will be on site during your stay and will do her best to help you feel at home and find your way around the area. During your visit, you will mostly likely find Lauren upstairs, in the kitchen area using her computer, or working on a project somewhere in the house or in the yard.

Your sweet and friendly canine hosts, Shelby and Tootsie, will enjoy your company and will probably want to jump into bed with you, so it might be wise to keep the bedroom door closed to remove temptation. They apologize in advance should they bark during your slumber. It doesn't happen often, but dogs will be dogs, right?

Other things to note

I am currently working to complete the home that my parents started building in 1996 but were never able to finish or fully enjoy. I'm thinking you'll be so captivated by the views and the great space that you won't notice the little unfinished projects here and there. I envision more and more great things for this home and this property, and your stay will help me make those dreams a reality!

This is a large home and we do have more bedrooms and space in various stages of completion available. If you have a family or a larger party and need more space or beds, please contact Lauren to discuss options. We plan to add more listings as each space is ready. A roll-away bed and an air mattress are also available upon request.

Lauren is gracious and accommodating; her dogs are sweet and fluffy. If you stay here, be sure to visit some of the waterfalls in the area. Highly recommended.

Lauren is the best host we have ever stayed with. We had the pleasure of staying with her for 2 nights during a very busy weekend. Nevertheless, she made sure to provide us with everything we needed, and even cooked breakfast for all of the guests. The location of the home is absolutely perfect - you get a lovely view of the mountains and two quiet porches to relax on.

Lauren is such a great host, that we decided to stay two nights instead of one like we planned! The house is beautiful and is a great getaway spot. We had fun getting to know her and definitely recommend staying there. Her dogs are cute too!

We absolutely loved staying at Lauren's house. She was welcoming and we had a lot of fun sharing stories with each other. We fell in love with her dogs, Shelby and Tootsie, and adored the room we were staying in, as well as the great views outside. The bathroom was amazing too, especially the bubble bath. We definitely recommend this Airbnb!

Lauren was an amazing host. We had problems reaching the location late in the night with no network to contact her, but she stayed awake to welcome us and introduced us to the lovely dogs Shelby and Tootsie. The next morning we had a great time walking around the property playing with the dogs and having a conversation with Lauren. She was helpful in guiding us to the tourist attractions around the area and suggested a good brunch place. Overall we had a great time during the short stay!!

Lauren was an exceptional host. Her place was easily accessible and close to a number of scenic hikes on the Cherohala skyway. She recommended a couple of places for food and treks, all of which were great. Her home is super clean, and absolutely gorgeous. We absolutely enjoyed our time at her place and would highly recommended it to anyone. We hope to be back soon! Thanks Lauren!

I'm a casual kind of gal. Jeans and a t-shirt are my preferred attire. I love to build, create, explore and learn new things. I've spent the past few years taking care of my parents in their last years. Now, I'm working to complete the beautiful mountain home they were never able…
