We are generally pretty laid back and easy going, we enjoy going for walks and most sports but I am a keen footballer, tennis player, trout fisherman. I design and make jewellery for a living which isn't really a job as I enjoy it so much and also help run our B&B with my wife Caroline. We enjoy travelling and love Vietnam and Cambodia, We really enjoy Vietnamese street food its so tasty and fresh. I love to cook and Caroline likes to bake cakes and treats, so if you catch any trout locally and want them smoked no problem and if you don't catch anything no worries you might find one in the fridge, if I have caught any and I usually do, so if you need a trout guide I'm your man! My life motto is every cloud has a silver lining (if I dont catch trout at least my casting is getting practice).

During your stay

We normally stay in the staff accommodation opposite the main lodge, so are usually available when needed but we do keep a low profile so that you can enjoy your stay in private.

If you would like to contact us during your stay we are available via mobile or if we are in just pop over to the staff accommodation, there is a house manual with all the house details in it too.

Available by prior arrangement and at a mutually agreeable cost John your host (an expert fly fisherman) can take you on a guided fly fishing trip and teach you the basics or if your intermediate/advanced show you where the fish lies are and some of the methods and flies that work at some of the renowned local trout rivers namely the Waitahanui & Hinemaiaia Rivers, which are only a short drive away.
