Camping in comfort – the best antidote to city life! Our glamping option combines all we love about living in Northland – simplicity, being close to nature and relaxation.
Our glamping tent has a lovely colonial feel and is roomy enough for a comfy double bed and lounging cushions, the perfect place for reading after a day at the beach or recuperating after ticking off one of the nearby walks.
The outdoor kitchen is close by for coffee, cooking, BBQ and sometimes socialising with other guests.

The space
Tara Retreat is an evolving glamping and eco accommodation space.
So far we have a self-contained studio, a handcrafted cob cottage, a renovated caravan with its own covered deck, a gypsy house truck and a glamping site too - all perfect spaces for enjoying a lovely local wine in the afternoon sun!
The property also boasts a yoga studio, massage room, fully-equipped outdoor kitchen and BBQ area, and a toilet and shower block at the bottom of the orchard. Come and make yourself at home!
Contact us if you want to book in a massage or yoga session during your stay.
Massage - One Hour Massage with Nicola ($80)
Yoga class 8.30am Saturdays ($15 - have spare mats)
Private Yoga Sessions $60 an hour with Glen up to 4

Guest access
Guests can wander the property and help themselves to whatever veges or fruit they can find - herbs, kale, silverbeet, spinach, lemons, etc. We have a dedicated yoga studio that guests can use to stretch out in (or join in a class if the timing is right) and we have a massage studio on site if they want to book a massage, or a consultation with a qualified naturopath.

Other things to note
Glamping = comfy camping, There is no power - nights are by lanterns, candles and moonlight and books, wines and conversation or board games, cards and stargazing replace the TV.
BUT you can get wifi on the couch in the front deck of the house or in the outdoor kitchen, where there are power points for charging phones or computers or at the house if you prefer.
Glamping guests use an excellent gas shower in a converted garden shed and a compost toilet, which we clean and monitor daily. It has been a very interesting learning curve dealing with “humanure” in a more environmentally friendly way a great teaching in waste versus resource and the fact “there is no away”.
If your favourite holiday was on a cruise, then glamping may not be for you.
