Toilet Rolls are extra I suppose the old,” Adage”, you get what you pay for, always applies? We were five adult guests, staying for 11 nights in early September 2016. I don’t want to be partial and I do want to give a fair appraisal, so let me start with the negatives. The property faces onto the main road, A3, connecting the South of the Island Too Port Louis, so constant traffic noise is evident. The Hot Water Spa was always cold, our hosts pointed out it was difficult to get engineers to fix it? It became evident that although we had booked self-catering, part of our hosts income, relied on supplying meals. We ordered Curry on the second night, it was poor and more expensive than the local restaurants. So we preferred to do our cooking. This regrettably lead to the non-supply of toilet rolls, the maid pointed out, “unless you buy meals, you supply your own!” There was only hot water in the showers, non at the bathroom basins or kitchen sink. Difficult when you want to shave, with no mirrors in the showers? The property is about 30 years old and doesn’t appear to have been upgraded, the lighting is poor the kitchen needs work. The bed mattresses are not really comfortable for older people. When we approached Bridgette on the issues, feeling some points could be addressed, she responded, “I have to make a profit”. I pointed out we had paid nearly 50,000 Rupees. How much were toilet rolls? In fairness, the next day most of our requests were dealt with, even the toilet rolls & mirrors in the showers. I honestly feel that was the problem, “maximize the profit”. Nothing wrong with that, as long as you give value. On the positive side, both Brigitte & Benoit are delightful people, who do all they can to make you comfortable. There is a very adequate Supermarket within 100m and in the other direction, a lovely Tapas restaurant & Pub, “Tooty Fruity”. Bridget went out of her way to get fresh fish for us to cook, it was inexpensive and excellent. The location is convenient for beaches and both North & South of the Island. The pool, bar and outside cooking area, although not solely for our use, are special. On our last three visits to Mauritius, we have always stayed at a beach resort, so possibly my comparisons are bias? Would we stay at Paradise Nest again? Yes! but only if we could rent Benoit brother’s house, at the rear of the property. A beautiful Indonesian style home, with far better accommodation(URL HIDDEN) It was, “chalk and cheese”. I recommend you hire that one, apparently at the same price?
