Rosita Heights cabin is on top of a hill, at 8,800 ft. elevation offering panoramic views of the Sangre de Cristos & Wet Mountain Valley. The master is on the second level and opens to deck with amazing views.

This semi-rustic log cabin sleeps 6-8. It's not a Marriott, nor are you paying 4-star hotel prices. Do not expect new flooring and furniture. This is casual, relaxed living.

A play & slumber room has 4 twin beds, + a futons & lots of room for romping or gaming. A maximum of 6 adults is advised. Inquire added 1 or 2 kids.

80 Mbps (down) Internet service available. TV in living room is equipped for streaming.

Hot tub available year round. From November through February a $25/stay fee applies for those planning to use the tub.

8 acres assures privacy, quite & bountiful wildlife, but do not wander onto neighboring properties. The more protective neighbor marks his property lines very well.

Pets welcome, but a fee of $40/dog/stay is charged. Two dog maximum. A Pet Fee option pops up on most booking platforms. If not please mention in one of your pre-arrival messages that your favorite furry friend is in your party.

The space
Easily accessed via paved Rosita Road (CR-328), then 200 yards on a dirt road, this cabin is 15 minutes from Westcliffe. A 4-wheel drive, or AWD, vehicle is recommended in Winter and mud season (March-April).

Once there, you will be outnumbered by deer, black squirrels... and an occasional elk, mountain lion or bear depending on the season. Twenty stairs to the deck and main floor provides a safe perch for observing the wildlife, mountains and valley floor.

Rosita is a historic mining area, including a cemetery started in 1870.

Besides the wildlife and mountains, star gazing is a highlight due to the lack of light pollution. This is truly one of the darkest places on Earth. A field scope is provided, but guests are encouraged to bring their own telescope.

Guest access
Your group has dedicated use of this two story cabin with 1,700 sq. ft. of living space. You can roam in the surrounding 8 acres and will most likely find deer antlers shed in the past season or so. (Host is 20 minutes away and will not be preparing breakfast, just supplying coffee, tea & some breakfast basics,)

Other things to note
Due to an elevation of 8,800 feet and the 22 steps to the main floor and a flight up to the master, persons from low elevation or in poor physical condition should consider accommodations located at a lower elevation.

SUV or All Wheel Drive with good tires is recommended from November thru March when snow or mud occasionally makes the 100 yard ascent up drive a challenge, especially for vehicles without a good tread. Passenger cars with good all-season tires is typically adequate. We plow if more than 8" of snow falls.

Dogs are welcomed, for a $25 fee for the stay/dog but should stay on the surrounding 8 acres. Wildlife could present risk to small dogs.

Hosting guests is an absolute delight. I manage six fine homes, each has it's own character, killer views - day and night - in or near the highest Dark Skies Certified Community in the world. This stargazing theme is why I branded my vacation rental services business as Darkskies.Vacations.
