Together with our 5 children (aged 19-26) we spent five nights in the lovely house of Sophie and Olivier. Communication was excellent, from the beginning. As the family was on vacation, we were met by their friend Lise, who explained everything very well.
The house is just beautiful, with a great ambiance. We felt at home, the minute we entered. As parents we liked our own bedroom downstairs (very comfortable bed) and our private bathroom. Upstairs the children had their three bedrooms with a very nicely decorated bathroom. The house has a lot of space, all kinds of little corners and even a television room, which we only used once to watch the arrival of the Tour de France, as it was raining then.
The kitchen is equally well equipped: everything necessary to cook a nice meal is available. Actually, we cooked every night ourselves with the things we bought in the Carrefour, a really good supermarket at walking distance. The real bonus of the house is of course the courtyard with the big table with eight chairs. What a luxury in the middle of Paris. We had all our meals outside, apart from one evening with rain. When you are with a group of eight persons it is very important to have enough space, and this house certainly provides this feeling of space. At night it is very quiet, you don't hear any traffic. We also liked the fact that it was at walking distance from Gare du Nord. It is very close to Montmartre, but you can also walk to the Seine in about 30 minutes. The area is very safe and we felt very Parisien going in the morning to the same bakery to get our fresh baguettes. After the second time I had a chat with the lady of the bakery every morning (very good to practice my French). Sophie kept in touch even while she was on holiday herself and asked if we were OK in the house.
So we highly recommend this house because of the friendly owners, the amount of space, the beautiful decoration, the homely feeling, the neighborhood, the courtyard, the two bathrooms, the proximity of Gare du Nord (we arrived by train).
The negative thing was that we had to leave after five nights, I wish we could have stayed for a month. Thank you Sophie and Olivier, it is a pity we were not able to meet.
