Carolyn's flat is ideal for visiting Paris. The neighborhood is beautiful and lively but also calm and peaceful at night. We loved roaming the streets around the 2nd and Le Marais. Her apartment is surrounded by great restaurants, shops and cafes. The airbnb is centrally located, making almost anywhere you want to explore in the city walkable. The flat is lovely, cozy but with more than enough space. The large modern overhead rain shower and balcony were huge pluses. We would love to stay again someday. Would definitely recommend to anyone. Communication was excellent. Check in was easy. We arrived early and were able to drop our bags and roam the surrounding area.

Carolyn's place is perfect for my wife and I to get away in Paris. It is a clean 5th floor walk-up that has that has the essential amenities to make small at-home meals and relax comfortably. You walk in to the tile floor living room right infront of you. Take a few steps in and turn right and you are looking at the kitchen with a small table,a 1/2 bath to the far right, and wooden stairway to your immediate right leading you upstairs. Upstairs you have a sloped roof with the mattress lying on the wood floor, dresser, sink, ane stand-up shower with combination hand-held and rainfall shower head (good pressure). There is also a door leading outside to a patio with table and chairs. A block away you have a strip of restaurants, cafes, bakeries, and stores with a variety of choices to suit your needs. It is a 20 minute walk to the Louvre, 20 minute walk to the Notre Dame Cathedral, and 1 hour walk to the Eiffel Tower (it's scenic along the Seine River!) There is so much to see in Paris and this flat is the perfect spot to start!

We absolutely loved the place and particularly the neighborhood. We arrived and were met by Tatiana who would be our point of contact for any questions or needs we may have. I didn't get the sense that Carolyn actually lives in this place as it seemed to always be rented out. Tatiana spoke very good english, was nice, and responsive to any of our queries. The apartment was as depicted and described with one caveat I'll note in a second. At advertised, it is perfect for 2 people, has a nice kitchen and sitting/TV area downstairs, and a bed and shower upstairs including a terrace with a small table and chairs. The apartment was great, particularly the terrace. The apartment is on the 4th floor (4 flights of stairs FYI) and so has a very, very cool view of the streets below and of the tops of surrounding buildings-felt very Parisian! The kitchen was fully equipped with good stuff which we pretty much ignored but would be great if you wanted to cook your own food. The sitting area was also very comfortable and we typically opened up the windows to let the breeze in which was very nice. The caveat is that the shower does not have a door so water can splash outside, especially because it didn't drain very well. Not a huge deal, just not apparent from the pics. Also, the toilet is downstairs from the bedroom so a trip in the middle of the night or early morning can be harrowing down the steep steps. The neighborhood more than makes up for any extremely minor issues we had with the apartment. We were visiting Paris for the first time to celebrate our 10 yr anniversary and this area (the 2nd) was idyllic. The apartment is located on a side street near Rue Montorgueil, which is lined with numerous cafes, bistros, cheese chops, wine shops, grocery store, bakeries, meat shop, fish shop, and even a Starbucks at the end for those craving western coffee. It was a scene every time we walked down it in the best possible way. It also felt very authentic. I didn't hear a lot of English being spoken and it looked like many of those enjoying these establishments were native to the area. We spoke little to no french and had no problem communicating and having a great time. Even though the apartment felt close to everything, it was quiet and felt like your little urban oasis. In addition to that main street, numerous side streets offered even more options, mainly little cafes, bistros, or bars. All packed with people when the weather would allow it. We could have spent another 2 weeks just eating at all of the places that were less than a mile of this apartment. Just awesome! In particular we LOVED L'Apibo, a great little restaurant, just doors away from this apartment; Frenchies, a very popular but modern restaurant about 7 minutes away by foot; L'Art Source, a...

Stayed over four nights in Carolyn's apartment, for the first 2 and a half we had no towels or linens. Had to resort to drying ourselves with tiny kitchen towels and an itchy comforter we found for cold nights. It definitely sucked. Apparently Carolyn was also on vacation, and even though she left a "helper" (seemed more like an employee), we were explicitly told to only contact Carolyn for any issues. We let her know the morning of second day and got no responses until we escalated with AirBnB support the morning of the third day. The towels were delivered that night. It was very uncomfortable. The main issue is that Carolyn seems to run this like a business (as she has every right to) she seems to have several properties, when we first texted the employee that we had arrived in Paris, she asked us which apartment we were staying at, doesn't really make you feel welcome. So instead of a cool AirBnB experience were you get to meet new people you get the experience of a second rate hotel, and a crappy one at that cause there is no front desk to resolve issues quickly. Other than that, the apt. is on the fourth floor, which I had originally been ok with, but these are some slim steps that are also slightly tilted, made the climb up ever so more difficult. Didn't get the smell problem, but we had very cool weather while we were there. The bed is pretty firm and the A/C makes a shudder noise every 10seconds for the first hour after turn on, if we weren't exhausted from walking Paris might have been annoying to get to sleep. The balcony however is amazing and the kitchen is suitable for making meals. There are some supermarkets close by.

We had a great visit, and the apartment was perfect as a base from which to explore Paris. The neighborhood is lively, and there is a school nearby, but we found the entire area charming and enjoyed popping into many of the shops on Montorgueil. The Gallerie around the corner became one of our favorites in the city. We enjoyed our coffee on the balcony every morning, and oftentimes a pre-dinner glass of wine. The stairs are a real thing, but we didn't mind as we live at the top of a walk-up building as well - good practice for Notre Dame!

Carolyn was very easy to communicate with before and during our stay in Paris. Check in went well with Jean Louis - he had even turned on the upstairs air conditioning before we arrived to cool it down! The apartment is perfect for a couple, with plenty of space downstairs to hang out in and a great upstairs terrace for drinking a bottle of wine! It is in a great location with an endless number of cafe and restaurant options within a 5 minute walk. I highly recommend Carolyn's apartment, we loved it!
