We enjoyed our stay at the gite, which is well situated in the village of Saint-Mathieu-du-Lac and close to the beautiful Parc de la Mauricie. Suzanne and her daughter were very friendly and helpful during our stay, and they run a bistro next to the gite where we enjoyed an evening meal. Our room was very nice, although the mattress was too squidgy for our liking. The breakfast was also good, with lots of variety.
The communication could have been clearer though - I booked a room outside of the village as we liked the idea of being surrounded by countryside. The booking was accepted but Suzanne told me the room wasn't available and that I would be booked in a room very close-by. I expected that we'd be staying outside the village, but instead we were booked into a room in the village itself - we only realised this when we got there. We were disappointed about this, although not for long as we had a pleasant stay there.
