Welcome to my city centre cottage with lovely garden and located only a 5 minute walk from the West Station, in the historic neighbourhood of St Dunstans & close to UKC University.
Built in 1826, my cottage provides a comfortable home for a city break, graduation, a work visit, college reunion or to tour East Kent and Whitstable; Im sure you will be comfortable. There is fast Wifi, Netflix, a well equipped kitchen and comfortable furniture, bedding and a suntrap Garden and parking nearby.

The space
It is quite unusual for Airbnb stays in the city centre to have a garden and I hope we have the weather for you to enjoy it. I have tried to make my cottage functional, comfortable as well as stylish, making the most of the space to encourage you to enjoy your stay.
You can adapt the space to meet your needs, use the kitchen to prepare your meals to eat outside or indoors at the 4 seater table after which you can then relax together or head out and explore the city.
Until quite recently this cottage only had one tap and no heating! But it has been thoroughly modernised so there is efficient NEST controlled heating and good doors and windows for your security and comfort. There is fast reliable WIFI and Freeview/Freesat TV and DVD player. You are also welcome to use my Nespresso coffee machine or cafeteria.

I manage, maintain, clean and prepare the place myself, it is my responsibility to make your stay go as well as possible. In our ‘new normal’ of increased caution following the Covid pandemic it is important we must all take responsibility for our own health and well-being, it is important that guests are comfortable and safe during their stay. I clean and disinfect the place myself and have researched and practice the best way to do so.

If you have any questions about your trip then do please check the information available on the Airbnb site or contact me and I will be happy to help.

Guest access
You are welcome to use the whole house and its facilities.
There is a path that goes across the garden for shared outdoor access by the neighbour.

Other things to note
During the uncertainty caused by the Covid Pandemic it is important that we as travellers understand the risk of lock downs and restrictions. My host cancellation policy has always been set to 'Moderate' so that guests can cancel or postpone with out penalty from Airbnb up to 5 days before the stay at my place starts.
During the March-June lockdown all of my bookings that cancelled due to government restrictions were without any charge or fee. In the future, I will not charge any fee to future guests who have to cancel because of a government lockdown or travel restriction. I hope that brings some reassurance in these uncertain times.

There is a hairdryer, iron and board, microwave and dishwasher in addition to the usual kitchen equipment. There is a laundry service 5 mins walk away.

Whilst the house does have a great little back garden it does not have one at the front, the frontdoor opens onto the pavement. There is a pedestrian crossing nearby so the vehicles are not travelling fast but during the day there will be traffic noise, less so for the weekends. However the windows are made from noise insulating acoustic glass to greatly reduce the impact of the road.

Children and infants are welcome. I wish to be clear as it is important to all, other than a couple of games I have not provided any equipment or facilities for children, such as a cot or stairgate etc. Infants 'in arms' are welcome for free, for children who are mobile and walking / running are counted as an additional person.

Please leave the apartment as you will find it; clean and tidy. Guests do kindly pay what Airbnb call a ‘cleaning fee’ that I have set at £25. This fee is towards the time it takes me to check, clean and prepare the house, change the bedding and do the laundry. It is not payment for me to clean up after you.

Even after the cleanest, tidiest of guests have stayed it takes around one hour to prepare the house to a good standard for the new guests and then I still need to sort the laundry. Thank you for your understanding.

I am sorry if it disappoints, but I do not iron bedding or towels - life simply is too short!

Hope this all makes sense, it is all about making your stay as enjoyable as possible! Any questions please feel free to ask.

The neighbourhood is a friendly eclectic mix of students, creatives, visitors and locals; the shops and businesses reflect this. Practically on the doorstep you can browse second hand music & records, walk on to drink drink gorgeous cocktails at the Falstaff, eat a vegan meal or alternatively buy great sausages from Mr Hedger, the cities last remaining butcher. There is also a small Sainsbury's supermarket and a bit nearer is a off licence / mini market. Or even better, next to the West Station is the renowned Goods Shed, eat in or take away, it's all locally produced and independent.
Stand outside in the neighbourhood and look up and look around, take in the varied architecture and building styles dating back to the 1300's. The area is a great example for the use of Kent Peg Tiles.

Hello I’m Richard, I grew up in Canterbury and after a time living in London and travelling I have enjoyed moving back to the area and appreciating what it has to offer. I am self employed, love travel, like music, film, photography, mountain biking and creativity in general. I enjoy making a home, whether that is for me and my family or for guests staying in my Airbnb place. I like the creativity and problem solving involved and it’s nice to see guests enjoying my city! I manage my own Airbnb adventure and clean, maintain and prepare my place, it’s important for me to know the job is done to my own standards. If you stay in my place I hope you have a great time!
