A little about us, your hosts:
Residents of the general Tauranga area for a long time, we have lived in Maketu for more than 5 years and moved onto this property at the end of April 2017. It captured our hearts..... and we named it Quirky Woods.
Simon is self-employed, successfully managing Aprons and More from home, and prior to 2000 worked in the hospitality industry for many years. He is passionate about playing his drums which live in our lounge. Music is an integral part of our lives as a result, with rehearsals, jams and gigs part of our social calendar.
Charlotte worked in various ways in the horticultural sector for 20 years before changing direction. She is currently employed as Collaborative Practice Coordinator and spends a lot of time in the wider community. Her passion is wellbeing, community, nature and creativity - and is working towards getting the balance of all parts just right!
Charlotte has travelled extensively in her younger days and can still speak Dutch, a little bit of French and can read German. Both Simon and Charlotte came to NZ as young children but consider themselves true Kiwis.
We are still in love with Quirky Woods and spend most of our spare time doing things here in the company of our 5 chickens, 2 ducks and 2 year old Great Dane dog (the size of a pony!) However, we enjoy going out to events that offer music, food and arts/crafts; camping (we spent our honeymoon in 201 7 in a tent at Raglan and Piha!); spending time with our 4 + 1 grown children and other extended family; the beach..... the list can go on - so little time, so much one can do!
