On top of the Cherry hill, on the Cherry street, by the cherry tree, you’ll find your hygge in a small, calm, and peaceful space. Welcome to Castle Black. Contemporary Nordic-inspired retreat in the heart of Central Seattle. It's a private mother-in-law in a townhouse designed by the local award-winning architect. 350sqft with a kitchenette, bathroom, storage + private parking. Just a few steps from the boozy Capitol Hill, Seattle University, and 15 minutes by bus from the downtown attractions.

The space
The space comes with a sofa bed with a special comfy mattress ( which we always freshly prepare for your arrival with new linen), small kitchenette (with a fridge, microwave and a beautiful stainless steel sink), storage space (with a dedicated shelving for all your belongings), and a bathroom (a shower and ah-hm an expected toilet - right?). You'll find a french press coffee, tea, free refreshments (La Croix anyone?), plus all of the needed utensils for quick snack, lunches or dinners. Please note we don't have a stove - so it's microwave and salads. A bunch of magazines (we fancy National Geographic and New Yorker - quite pretentious, we know), a Majesty Palm (don't worry you don't have to water it), and your very own smart private entrance (we'll tell you all about it when you reserve). Radiant heating, eco appliances and bamboo right out of your window. Did we say Apple TV? So you can stream your favorite shows, streaming the streams (the ones you subscribed to) and crazy YouTube videos (have you seen the amazing person eating the pickles live? well, they eat everything there, actually). And of course, we do have a private 24 hour parking spot for you just a few steps (and 6 stairs) away from your door.

Great for short and longer stays. A 350 sq ft Scandinavian and Japanese inspired space (if these two could work together, here it is). Also, there's an additional comfy floor mattress if you need one. Just tell us that. Barn doors! Did we we mention barn doors?

Guest access
It's a private mother-in-law unit in a contemporary townhouse. What it means is that you have a full floor at your disposal and don't need to share anything. Plus, you have a patio. Nice!

Other things to note
White Walkers not included. A bummer. We know. But we can talk about the Game of Thrones. A lot.

Oh, our quite hours are 11PM-7AM. And please no parties.

Finally, about sounds and noise. The space is a new construction and we live just a floor above. If you ever lived in one of these, you know that sometimes you might hear people’s steps and movements. Not much else. That’s what you can expect here as well. No panic - we provide ear plugs! The entry to our space is next to yours, so when the door opens, or somebody rings the bell (exciting!), or guests arrive you might hear a bit of that too. Apart from that - it’s pretty quite and cozy.

Seattle is booming and it comes with some weird water pressure debacle. What we've noticed is that in general our water pressure is great, but it might be lower in the early mornings and late evenings. Many calls to the city offices have not changed that - so we got used to it. Wouldn't stop you from enjoying showers, but it won't feel like a Niagara falls, more like a nice mountain stream or a river, or fill in some nice metaphor here. You will be good.

Seattle, Washington, United States

Central District is quite literally central. Very pedestrian to Capitol Hill (where you'll love the bars, the scene and people very very much), just a minute from Seattle U (a young a bubbling space), and a 15 min either to downtown or to lake Washington (which is the best in the summer, you should go there). It`s a comfortable, diverse and safe neighborhood - that loves people, friendly interactions on the streets and greenery (if you have not been to Seattle before it might feel like we are in the forest).

Living in Seattle, I enjoy the mists, rains, and occasional sun of the Pacific Northwest. When not lost in the books, or in the coffee shops, I'm aimlessly exploring the boundaries of reason by co-hosting a podcast "Always Now and Yet Again". Where my friend and I go on a pointless quest of making a point about culture, technology, design and things in between.

During your stay
We live just a few floors above, but we are totally non-committal to interactions. Unless you want to. If so - then we'll share all we know about Seattle, art (one of us is a contemporary visual artist), chat about the weather, and tell you all about local attractions. There's a few.
