We stayed there for 3 days during rainy season and it was wonderful. It is just far enough away from the crowded Ubud. Serene and calm place to relax, great pool, extremely friendly and obliging staff. Breakfast at the poolside - heavenly. Also I would like to mention our driver Alit who picked us up at the airport and spend a whole day showing us three temples, vulcano and ricefields. He explains a lot, is very relaxed and we had an eventful day with him. Thanks a lot to Palani the (lucky) manager of this small paradise and his crew.

Amazing facilities. I arrived at Beji Indah first and just stayed in the villa for my first night and day. It really helped me to unwind. The staff is also super friendly and helpful. Food is delicious. They can even contact Balinese healer to provide massage in the hotel room. I will definitely come back for it.

My mother and I stayed 4 nights in the Nakula suite and it was an absolute dream! The grounds at Beji Indah are breathtaking. For a private residence the size of the land is extensive. We spent hours each day just taking photos and exploring the secret garden paths within the riverside jungle setting. If you like to be close to nature then you will LOVE it here. There is nothing fake or fabricated looking about this place, the design is very well thought out. Two fantastic infinity pools and multiple outdoor dining /massage areas dotted all over the residence between lush tropical gardens, lawns and fish ponds. The room was much more than any ordinary hotel room you might find in Ubud for the same price. The bedroom was spacious with bay windows, air con, plenty storage and a simple but nice outdoor shower/toilet. The bedroom flowed out onto a gorgeous open plan living area with multiple lounging areas, day bed, sofa, arm chairs and a beautiful dining table! We were astounded by the quality of the solid timber Balinese furnishings. The whole suite was very clean and made up every morning while we were having breakfast. We got the chance to look around at the other rooms too and they looked just as nice, particularly the 'Jepun' room which looks nice for a couple. All of the staff at the property were all very kind and welcoming. I can't remember all of the staff's names however I do remember Made and Komang were particularly friendly and helpful. One thing future guests may like to keep in mind is that the estate is run by a small team and is more like a luxurious home stay rather than a hotel experience. For example if you would like to have dinner then you have to arrange meals earlier on in the day as they don't run a restaurant, but rather make a selection of lovely home cooked meals from the kitchen in the main house. This was no problem for us as we would usually spend at least half the day at the villa/pool just relaxing and so it was very easy to communicate with staff. The breakfasts were always fresh, delicious and very nicely presented. I have seen other reviews on tripadvisor etc complaining the villa was too far away from Ubud town centre but I think it was a perfect location! The surrounding streets were very clean and well kept, nice traditional houses etc The locals were friendly, lovely community feel, boys playing soccer on a field at the end of the street every afternoon. Transport was easy to find. PS.There is a smart new vegan resteraunt/cafe at the end of the street called Sage. Try it out! This area is perfect is your happy to just take it slow and enjoy nature. Ubud town is so busy now anyway! Book at least 4-5 nights, we wish we stayed longer! THANK YOU BEJI INDAH! we will be back!

Beautiful, serene location. Ideal first stop in Bali to unwind in nature, or great escape from more 'hectic' areas. Staff are delightful, efficient and very helpful. Great swimming pool , comfortable room with old-school outside bathroom. Good value overall

This is an amazing tranquil place set away from the hustle and bustle of the main part of Ubud. The gardens and grounds are beautiful and very well kept - it was like and oasis. The villa was open, spacious, clean and beautifully decorated. We spent our time lying in the seating on the balcony watching the birds and listening to noises of the forest. The photos do not do it justice. Even though there were other people staying there we hardly saw them. Komeng and Kadek were very helpful throughout the booking process and when we arrived they made us very welcome. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Everything here moves at a different place which is lovely - nothing is rushed and there is a sense of calmness at all time. Lovely! We hired a scooter and enjoyed whizing around. I know some people may be be nervous to do that but the traffic moves slowly and I have yet to see any form of road rage here. we will be back.....

Villa Beji Indah User ProfileVilla Beji Indah is a superhost.

This is the home and garden of Dr Steve Wignall. The property is called Villa Beji Indah. We are located very close to the center of Ubud, next to the Monkey Forest and in a picturesque village called Nyuh Kuning.

There are 18 staff who are all from Ubud and therefore exude the same charm and friendliness that is unique to this Island of the Gods.

Steve is a leading public health expert and activist having spent the last 30 years working with the Clinton Foundation, Family Health International and the Indonesian Ministry of Health. He has a foundation (a non- profit organization) that provides access to HIV testing and treatment for communities across Indonesia, including Bali. This is a man with a very large heart!
After graduating in the 1960s and a 21 year stint as a US Navy doctor he began work in Indonesia. His experience and close relationship to Indonesia, from Papua to Sumatra, is reflected in his eclectic home set in sprawling gardens featuring a 25 meter lap pool, plunge pools, a spa overlooking the river and garden pavilions.

A significant portions of the profits from Villa Beji Indah supports Yayasan Bali Peduli, an HIV NGO founded by Dr.Wignall to provide treatment for people living with the virus. Todate there are 700 people who receive regular services at the 2 clinics run by this foundation.

Our guests have often called this placed 'magical', 'peaceful' and 'amazing'. They have also told us that the pictures don't do any justice to the natural beauty of the actual site.

There are 10 unique suites (in 3 separate villas) on this beautiful property which runs along a lush river valley/ravine. We can house a maximum of 25adults.

It is therefore perfect if you are planning anything from a wedding, a special birthday party, a company retreat, a yoga retreat or family reunions.

This place is rented out as single rooms or as small villas (each of the 3 villas can accommodate about 5 - 10 people.

You can also rent the entire villa if you are planning a big event such as a wedding or retreat.

The village of Nyuhkuning is one of the most interesting hamlets in Ubud, noted for it's community civic awareness. It is home to Bumi Sehat Foundation run by famed midwife Robin Lim (CNN hero of the year) and also to the Bali Peduli Foundation (started by Steve and his colleagues) which focuses on HIV prevention, detection and friendly and accessible treatment. There are numerous small cafes and restaurants on the small road leading to Ubud's popular Monkey Forest which is a pleasant stroll away from the estate.

This is certainly the kind of magical place one needs to unwind, de-stress and refresh.

The property is currently managed by Steve's friend Yulia and staff members Aniek and Mitha. Depending on the time of your message, you will get an response from either one of us.

Well, if you want anymore information please let us know.
We hope to see you at this beautiful spot!

(Please note that the entire estate is a no smoking area. Also we are in the tropics, almost in a forest next to a river - so do expect to hear the symphony of birds and frogs along with geckos and butterflies. If you are not a nature loving person, this property is probably not suitable for you. If you love nature, this is a paradise)
