We have 2 luxuriously furnished safari tents with kitchen on large plots. The safari tents are situated in the countryside of northern Netherlands, close to the cosy city of Groningen, the forests of Drenthe and the Frisian lakes.

The space

Our safari tents (2 in total) offer great comfort in a quiet, rural area, yet within easy reach of the city of Groningen. The tents are very spacious with lots of privacy. We have a 4-persons safari tent and a 6-persons. The tents come with a fully equipped kitchen with a Dolce Gusto coffee machine. In a separate building you'll find your own private bathroom with hot shower, toilet and washing basin. The area is ideal for walking, cycling, canoeing, sailing and birdwatching. If you're lucky you can spot the deer nearby. It's great to enjoy the sunset next to the large pond with the campfire.

Guest access

Our guests will have access to an area of 5000m2 with ponds, grass, trees and a garden with herbs for you to pick. If you come with children they'll love to explore the area with our binoculars, use the big trampoline or take out a canoe.

Interaction with guests

We live in the farmhouse on the property. We will welcome the guests and show them around. We will give them all the necessary info and inform them of all the events in the area. They can always ring our bell if they have a question or need anything.

We had a relaxing weekend in the countryside, and the hosts were lovely. The kids especially loved the trampoline, and eating fresh eggs from the chickens.

We (two adults and four children) stayed at "Aan het Diepje" for two nights and absolutely loved it. The safari tent is beautifully decorated and clean, and the surroundings are so serene - kilometres of open grassland and cows and canals. We awoke to the sounds of birds and little frogs - absolutely magical. The kids loved the bunk beds and there was plenty for them to do (trampoline, sandpit, balls and toys). Breakfast provided by Hans and Gerdine was unbelievably scrumptious! They were lovely, helpful hosts & available if required. A huge thankyou to Gerdine and Hans - we love your tents and would return there in an instant!

Absolute heaven! We spent only one night at the safari tent on our way through town and wished we could have stayed a month. Our host made us feel so welcome and the place is so clean and quaint with special touches throughout. It contained a good supply of everything we needed with special attention to details. It sits in the middle of a field with cows grazing nearby. They have provided toys and trampolines for the kids. Our three teenagers thought the safari tent was funner than spending three days in Paris. We were provided with a big basket of food for breakfast at the time we chose that consisted of eggs, cheeses, a fruit salad, breads, jam, yogurt, cereals etc. It was a big big breakfast and delicious too. It was so much fun that we want to come back for a family reunion next summer!

Hans and Gerdine were very helpful hosts and the safari tent was lovely! Everything went super fine! Tent was beautiful and all of us (parents + kids 10, 14 & 16 years) liked it a lot. We also rented bikes to move around, and also a boat for one afternoon. Kids liked different "garden games". Thanks to Hans' and Gerdine's help and nice information leaflets, it was easy to find what to see around countryside. Breakfast was absolutely delicious! It would have been nice to stay longer! Maybe we come some other year again for a longer time. Thanks and greetings from Finland!

A real hidden gem! The safari tents are fantastic- with a really high standard of finish, and all of the equipment that you need ( kettle, stove, utensils, plates etc). We made full use of the BBQ and chimnea. The beds are comfy with fresh bedding. The bathrooms are lovely - with clean towels and environmentally friendly products, and are very clean. The hosts are very friendly, and are on hand to provide fire wood and advice. They also provide a fabulous breakfast with fresh fruit, bread and juices. A great start to the day. We had beautiful weather for our trip - and as such made use of the canoes available on site. In the event of rain there is wifi. All in all a really great experience - and several of the group are looking to return in the near future!

Our family had a wonderful experience in the safari tent. There was lots of things for the kids to do (and us adults) and the tent was absolutely beautiful. The morning breakfast was brought to us every morning and was enough food to feed our family breakfast AND left over for sandwiches for lunch. The food was delicious! The hosts were very helpful with information in the area. We would definitely recommend this place to family and friends!
