The stone cottage which is over 250 years old has been recently renovated and retains its traditional style: stone and white-washed walls, inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove. There are also modern conveniences: heating, Wifi, TV with Netflix and fully equipped kitchen.
There is an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area with a vaulted ceiling. Upstairs is a cosy double bedroom.
Outside guests have their own patio and garden area with seating

The space
Situated 5 miles/8 kilometers (10 minutes’ drive) from the heritage town of Kenmare, renowned for its fine restaurants and traditional music pubs. The cottage is situated on a farm in the heart of the countryside. Outside there are views of the Sheen River valley and beyond to McGillicuddy Reeks. It is an ideal location for exploring the Ring of Kerry, the Ring of Beara and the Wild Atlantic Way.
We don't provide breakfast but there is tea, coffee, milk and muesli provided.

Other things to note
Nick, Anita and daughter Aisling play music in Kenmare and will be able to tell you where to find the best music in town.
Please note we are situated on a farm up a private unmetalled road.
Sometimes you might hear sheep!
Also as we live in a rural area and the Wifi signal can be a bit variable at times.
Although there is full central heating in the cottage, you are welcome to light the woodburning stove. We provide a basket of logs and some peat briquettes. You can purchase more briquettes locally or you can buy additional logs off us at 5 euros per basket.

I am a farmer and stonemason with a passion for old buildings. I'm also a lover of trees and have established a native Irish wood on the farm. My wife Anita is a Failte Ireland regional tour guide who works on Garinish Island near Glengariff in West Cork. She is also a TEFL teacher, has a degree in English and Spanish and has published poems. We are both musicians and play on the local traditional Irish music scene. I play the Irish bozouki and sing and Anita sings and plays bodhran and mandolin. Our daughter Aisling plays harp and sings professionally.
