This is your opportunity to stay in a prize winning Art Deco apartment in Brisbane's inner city! In 2015 Coronet Court was a recipient of a heritage conservation award from the National Trust. This spacious, fully furnished one bedroom apartment, with all amenities, is suitable for a couple or singles. Situated opposite the beautiful New Farm Park, you will have easy access to public transport (bus and ferry), entertainment, restaurants and shops. Minimum of 3 nights stay.

The space

This a unique and beautiful renovated art deco apartment block. It is spacious and comfortable with a separate lounge and dining room (with a beautiful wooden fireplace), kitchen, bathroom and a large bedroom that opens up onto the back veranda.

Throughout the apartment are unique art deco light fittings made specifically for the building. There is also plenty of storage with built in cupboards.

The kitchen is compact and includes everything you need. As I am travelling for five months there will be some foodstuffs left in the kitchen, particularly herbs and spices plus pulses and grains. You are more than welcome to use whatever there is in the kitchen cupboards, as well as take advantage of the herb garden in the courtyard.

All linen is provided - sheets, towels, dooners, blankets, tablecloths and tea towels. There is a top loader washing machine on the back veranda plus a plasma TV, DVD and CD player in the lounge room.

Outside the apartment is a lovely courtyard filled with hanging plants, pots filled with flowers and a herb garden. You are more than welcome to dine outside at the communal dining table or simply take in the beautiful garden. Beside the courtyard is the Summer House that is also available for guests.

Guest access

The apartment is located on the ground floor with two points of entry - either from Elystan Street through a security locked foyer, or at the back of the building via the courtyard.

Interaction with guests

I will be away living in the foothills of the Himalayas but my friend and neighbour Tamsin O'Connor will be your point of contact at Coronet Court. She will be able to give you all the information you need and assist you in any way she can.

Other things to note

There is plentiful free street parking for you to use if you need to.

Like staying in an Art Deco museum, this was an absolute delight and we felt quite priviledged to be able to stay in this beautiful, original and authentic old building. The apartment is very spacious and cool and has a lovely Zen feeling about it. Being next to the park is wonderful (particularly with all the jacarandas out right now), the location is absolutely ideal, across the park from the Powerhouse and down the road from the ferry and river, and it was peaceful and a very tranquil spot to spend a few days. Have already recommended it to friends!

Julie's apartment is an absolutely stunning example of Art Deco architecture situated in an iconic area of Brisbane. The apartment is full of decorative features and is a lovely place to relax in and soak in some history. It is also unusually large for a one-bedroom apartment, with a large sunroom and separated kitchen and dining! New Farm Park is located directly across the road, and the cafes, bars and restaurants of New Farm/Fortitude Valley are at your doorstep. The New Farm CityCat terminal is a mere two minutes walk away, giving you access to the CBD and South Bank. As a Brisbane local myself, I couldn't recommend a suburb or apartment more highly as a place to base yourself whilst you explore Brisbane!

We stayed at Julie's beautiful Art Deco apartment in November. It was everything advertised and more, beautifully appointed and within easy walking distance to ferries, shopping and great cafes and restaurants. The old style original woodwork makes the interior quite dark but it has been lovingly restored.

Julie User ProfileJulie is a superhost.

I have two properties listed on Air B&B. The first is in New Farm, Brisbane but each year I travel to Nepal where I teach young Buddhist monks English at Namobuddha monastery in the mountains about 2 hours outside Kathmandu. This is usually between September and December so during this time the New Farm property is available. I am more than happy for other people to stay at Coronet Court while I am away so that they can enjoy the loveliness of this award winning Art Deco building and experience the pleasure of living in New Farm. From my travels around the globe I know how important it is to have a comfortable and safe base from which to explore a new country or city. Apart from travel, I also love to read, garden, listen to music and cook (particularly Asian food). You are more than welcome to use the wide range of herbs and spices in my kitchen while you stay. Living on the ground floor also has its advantages - you can just nip out into the courtyard and pick a handful of fresh herbs for your cooking! I am also fortunate to have a beach house on beautiful Stradbroke Island, only a couple of hours from Brisbane. When I am in Australia I go there most weekends to enjoy the beach and to gradually establish a garden, but I am also happy for other people to stay there. So this property is available year round. Amity Point is a quiet fishing village and the perfect place to explore beautiful Stradbroke Island. You are also welcome to use any spices I leave in the kitchen, or read my books. Please enjoy.
