it is a good thing to once in a while receive guests who say at the arrival , "wow it is another world from Haiti!!"
John is one example of a person who is using Airbnb and is not modernly connected. and at the same time expecting hotel service. I ask John as everybody always a day or two before time of arrival and most of the guests are modern enough to be connected to the internet at least once a day to let us know about the arrival time as it is essential, we have businesses and cannot be in the house waiting- just an arrival time and good look at the map has worked for 99% of the people :)
also our house outside wall was just freshly painted and the name and number are up again. also internet is available everywhere and for free, even outside the house, the guest network works without password to contact when needed! just need to know how to use your own phone.
Also it is normal to call or send a message while on the route and we are always happy to help and even come to meet or pick up if needed!
John told me something quite shocking though- "you're running a public establishment"- and i would be happy to explain this to everybody- no, our place is not public establishment! it is a private villa, all reservations are pre approved and screened and there are no walk ins from the street and this is also a reason that for it is a private club for many people who want to become kite-surfers or are kiting already, these people gain the most as we have a lot to offer between the 2 best locations in the Dominican Republic for kiting! we take care of our people, we have many trips and tips available for all to make most out of the stay!
Also we have a few people around always to meet new people and share the time and many friendships are made!
For me John seemed as not the happiest type of person and actually with the review he surprised me as all of this would have been great to communicate in person! :) honest and straightforward people get attention , things are made better, and are always taken care of in the best possible way.
as to him as a history teacher- it is good to know the past but better to live in the present!
take care and have more fun!
