Dolphin cottage is on the St Ives to St Just road, just a short walk across the fields from the south-west coast path and perfectly located for exploring the beautiful rocky headlands and sandy coves of West Penwith.

The space

Dolphin cottage has views over the fields to the sea, and is set amongst a quiet farming hamlet. It is a traditional granite cottage, which has been sympathetically modernised and has light, spacious rooms and a large sunny back garden.

The available room has a twin or double bed and sea views. The bathroom has a bath with fitted shower and screen, plus handbasin and WC. Downstairs is a the kitchen which opens into a dining room with table and seating, and a wood-burning stove. Across the hall is a lounge with colour TV. Heating is by electric night storage heaters and the wood-burning stove. The floor is slate downstairs, and wooden floorboards with rugs upstairs.

Guest access

Private double bedroom (bed can be made into twin singles). Bathroom with bath and shower, shared with owner. Guest are free to use the living room and garden, and the kitchen to prepare light meals.

Interaction with guests

I work from home and am usually around to offer advice on how to get to the coast path and local amenities. I prefer to have the house to myself to work from 11 am - 4 pm, but appreciate that this is not always possible depending on the weather.

Other things to note

I have a large dog, your bedroom is dog- free but she is around the house and friendly, so she will say hello and interact with you.

Lucy´s cottage is a wonderful refuge by the sea to calm down and relax and enjoy the many beautiful places around the Penwith Peninsula. We found Lucy very friendly, attentive and helpful, she made it easy for us to feel at home and find the places that we were longing to see. Her lovely dog Luna was also a joy be with. We stayed for a week which was much too short to explore everything we would have liked to see. It was very remarkable for us that so many beautilful beaches, moor landscapes and ancient landmarks are so close together and therefore easy to reach. We also enjoyed very much our katamaran-trip to watch dolphins and other sea animals, which we hadn´t expected to be possible there at all. We will definetly come back!

Picture perfect cottage with a lovely sea view from the room. Lucy was a perfect host, offering advice on the south west coast path and providing a very good dinner recommendation. We would very happily stay again.

We enjoyed our stay at Lucy's very much. Lucy is a great host with lots of travel advice. The house is stunning and our bedroom was perfect from size to cleanliness. Communication before and during the trip was great too. We would highly recommend staying at Lucy's, especially if you are looking for a quiet but still central location.

The room we slept in was great and the view over the sea was stunning. You and your dog has been such nice hosts. It was great that we had a big breakfast every morning in your house. Everything was clean and tidy, so we had the perfect stay. Thank you again :)

Lucy's place is a beautiful homely cottage just outside of Pendeen, with a stunning coastal walk and hidden away cove a mere 20 minutes walk away. Perfect location for anyone wanting to be close enough to the tourists spots without being 'in the midst' of it all. If you want to explore, you'll need a car- though there are bus services too. If coastal walking is your thing- you won't find a better place.
