Interaction with guests

We like to share at least a little conversation with our guests so we hope you like sharing, but if you don't no worries, we are not gonna push you :)

On the other hand, even if the place is very quiet (Usually you can cook alone), you can meet a lot of people since the other rooms and the next flat ones are also on Airbnb, and 80% of guests stay longer than 1 month (Some of them 6 months, etc), so there is a great atmosphere in the building, we use an online group to keep in touch and sometimes we organize activities but of course you are free to join them or not, and as you can see in the reviews, the place is quiet if you want to study or sleep.

Other things to note

- If you want to book only 1 or 2 nights with more than 10 days in advanced probably we will decline your reservation because they block our calendar. We only accept short stays to fill gaps in our calendar or for the same week. Sorry for the inconvenience.
- We have 1 cat named Marvel.
- There is a quiet time from 11pm-11am for the benefit of all guests.
- There are other permanent tenants living in the flat from different countries but also other travelers.

I received great support from Ali in finding the house where all was ready. He has big smile and is very sincere. When I discovered I had lost my keys on final day he was very understanding. Lovely convenient place near Birmingham centre and right on bus stop.

Decent sized room, kitchen and lounge area available, fast wifi and good privacy. Close to bus routes to city centre. Easy to find.

We had some good exchanged with Manu before my arrival. The room was great, clean, and slightly bigger than what it looks on the photo. So I was quite positively surprised and felt great in it. The only minus: the smell in the corridor, coming from the other rooms/kitchen, even if it doesn't enter this specific room. Would go back there next time in Birmingham, without any hesitation.

I did not get to know Manu but there was a girl letting me in and helping me with everything. She was really nice. However, the whole place smells pretty bad and I tried not to stay too long in common areas for that reason. The room itself was dirty, the floor was dirty, spider webs everywhere and it smelled as well. When the girl realised this she tried to hoover again and gave me some spray for the smell. The bedding was dirty as well. She explained the stains do not get out after washing but the bedding was washed. Still if they are that bad they should not be used anymore. The bathrooms were ok and clean though. Outside the room it was really loud at nighttime and I could not sleep more than a couple of hours per night as people were talking loud all the time. I think they were from the taxi company downstairs. Also doors close difficult in the flat and it is loud when one opens and closes a door late at night. So while they tried to make everything good I believe the flat needs some principal changes especially the smell is a problem. I was only there to sleep at night and pretty busy at the day so cannot say how it is at daytime r in relation to other guests.

Hi Sonja, we are really sorry to hear that but we really thank you for your feedback and we will try to improve, anyway we have nearly 4 stars in cleanliness in this room, based in 24 reviews so far so luckily not all guests think the same thing like you. I am not the landlord so some issues are out of my control but I already changed carpets, paint everything (Some rooms several times), and we are constantly improving so I really hope next time (If you book again) will be a better experience, and definitely if you join use during the day, for example in one of our BBQs we organise, where you can share with long term guests and some short term ones as well, your experience will be different for sure. Take care!

Manu was very friendly and helpful. The room was warm, quiet and clean. The location is very good for the price - half an hour's walk to the centre. It's very much shared accommodation, with a communal kitchen and bathrooms, so it reminded me of my student days. Overall, I think it's fair for the price.

The place has just been renovated (October 2015), based on comments and advise left by previous guests but if you still have any specific issue you would like to highlight, please be kind enough to let me know this when you are here in person as direct feedback is also welcomed. Thanks

Floors have been re-carpeted, all walls have been re-painted, new front door, new locks, new flat screen TVs, brand new fridges, dryers, ceramic hobs, etc. Please note as the property itself is quite aged it cannot be modernized as most people understand without making major structural changes.

I am a Chemistry and Spanish Teacher from Spain living in the UK since 2012 and I like meeting people from all over the world. I am also the president of a Charity in charged of support pour students to gain access to the University in developing countries.

We know it's not always easy but we like when there's opportunity to share some time with guests, going out, etc, and since there are 7 rooms, and in most of them 2-3 months guests, usually there is always somebody in the living room to talk with. We appreciate guests who don't stay 90% of their free time inside the room and they contribute to the community spirit

We have an online group where we keep in touch and we organize activities like dinners, etc

There's a great South East Indian/Sri Lankan restaurant (Spice Town, previously Chennai Dosa) close to my house where we like having dinner with our guests when it's possible.

Less than 1 minute walking you can find the 2 towers which inspired JRR Tolkien to write The Lord of the Rings (One of them is visible from the bedrooms) and 2 mins walking from The Oratory where he used to participate and 1 minute from The Plough and Harrow hotel where he stayed as well.

The property is located 5-6mins walking distance to the Botanical Gardens and 7-8mins walk to the Edgbaston Reservoir
