About this listing

This little summer-house is situated on the narrowest point of the island, in complete privacy, overlooking the sea both north and south, surrounded by nothing but nature.
The house has everything needed for everyday life, and fits a couple.

The space

My husband and I made this little summerhouse in the very beginning of our life together. It is placed on a magnificent spot where the island narrows, enabling a view to the sea on both sides of the house. On the back-side the sea lies deep under the terrace, offering a breathtaking panorama. On the front-side your eyes follow the islands sun burnt fields all the way down to the sea, where the sun sets in the evening. There is a small beach directly under the houses, accessible only by foot, and for the main beach, Angali, you can stop the bus that passes on the main road, a little away from the house, or - if you enjoy walking - you can follow the footpath, that will take you there in about 35 minutes. The nearest shops are in Chora, the main village on the island - you can walk there in 15 minutes, or you can stop the bus.
'The small Mill' contains a kitchen/living-room, and one separate bedroom. The kitchen is equipped with the kitchenware necessary for basic cooking , and there is a bathroom with shower. You can have access to a washing machine nearby, if needed. 2 persons can be accommodated in the house .
The house is an independent unit - meaning that it is clean and ready when you book in, you have extra sheets and towels if you want to change, but we do not come by every day to clean. It is your house for the time you stay there.
The final cleaning, when you leave, is ours.

Guest access

The whole house, big garden, washing mashine.

Interaction with guests

We love to get to know our guests - to share interrests and opinions - and informations on the island - over a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. But, it has to take place in our restaurant, because we are tied to it the whole summer. We wil take you to the house when you arrive, and pick you up when you leave - but we will not be around during your stay. If you have any kind of problems you will always be able to find us at the restaurant, and I will provide you with my mobile-nr before you arrive.

I can't say enough nice things about the small mill house, Lisbet, and Folegandros/Chora. We had fairly high expectations for a great week on the island but it was even better than we hoped. The house is wonderful - very comfortable and views are fantastic. That alone is worth the price of admission. Lisbet was the ideal host - she was always communicative and offered lost of advice in advance and while we were there. She also picked us up from the port and delivered us there when we were leaving. Folegandros is a magical place - the people are friendly and welcoming. The town of Chora is both relaxing and fun - and the food is great! Thanks Lisbet and thanks Folegandros

Calm, authentic, quiet with an amazing view. We really liked the viwe, the nature and the cosy cottage with a splendid landscape, just 20 minutes walk from the village and the restaurants.

Lisbets small mill house is like taking a step back in time. It is a sweet little house with a gorgeous view in a very private yet centrally located area. Lisbet is also the most warm and welcoming host I think anyone could come across. The house is rustic so it is good to know that... And you are very close to nature so you do have a few lil creatures to contend with but it's all worth it to stay in this lovely home on this lovely island. Also Lisbet s restaurant Pounta is a delicious and beautiful place with amazing food which I strongly recommend!

We spent an amazing week at the small mill house. Lisbet was an incredibly gracious host - she picked us up and dropped us off, got us a fan one night when it was particularly hot, gave us suggestions for the island (hikes, beaches, where to eat). The views from the house are the best part - the house itself is cute, modest, not extravagant but perfectly lovely. You can hike down to a beautiful beach right from the house. The island is a very special place!

The small Mill house is a dream ! Lisbet was waiting at the port, she is very friendly and nice and it was lovely meeting her. When we arrived at the small Mill we did not know where to look first: the incredible views, the charming little house, the nice colors.... We stayed 14 days and many of them we did not leave the cute little place. The complete privacy and the wonderfull surroundings and the two terraces made us stay just to enjoy all of it. Of course there are some animals..... You are in the countryside and that is part of it and we found it exciting to be a bit in a real "national Geographic documentary" ! The only difficulty I had during the stay was the walk to the beach near the house, for me ( a woman of 58 with backproblems) it was very hard... So, older people : be prepared! The Pounta (the restaurant in Chora, runned by Lisbet and her husband and son Adonis (!)) is a 20 minutes walk and is FANTASTIC ! And not only the very beautifull and special crockery ! My husband and me had a wonderfull and unforgettable holiday in the amazing small millhouse ! Mieke and Rudi Wilderjans-Van Lieshout.

My stay here was below average. It was one of the more expensive hotels (or airbnb's) in folegandros and it did not live up to my expectations. It was a beautiful property but these were the problems: 1.) on our second night there were so many mosquitos and bugs in the room that we could not sleep the entire night. The problem is that one of her doors has an opening without a screen so bugs come and go as they please. For the next 8 days we kept a shirt covering the opening and couldn't sleep with a breeze. This was a problem because there is no air condition. 2.) in the middle of the week I got out of the bathroom and there was a five foot snake on the floor in the bedroom 3.) several times while showering the water went completely off and did not turn on again for minutes 4.) Lisbet the host told us she would drive us to the port on the last day but she never showed up and after waiting 30 minutes we had to hitch hike to the port. while waiting for the boat at the port she did show up to say good bye but this was at least 40 minutes past our agreed upon meeting time.

Response from Lisbet:
Sorry you feel that way Alex - I'll do my best to fix the problems! (The mosquito net didn't help after all then?) The trip to the port was a plain misunderstanding about the pick-up time. Since you were gone when I came to get you (20 min's later than you expected me) I spent some time searching for you, before driving to the harbor. But still, it shouldn't have happened!

The experience staying at Lisbet's small mill house was the best we had in our entire stay on any of the Greek islands. The house is fantastic, the views are great, it's close to the main village but still far enough to have privacy, and many beaches are accessible by foot. Also, the restaurant of her family is the best in town :)

I came to Folegandros, on holidays from Denmark, 30 years ago, and didn't ever want to leave.
It took some time before the dream came through, but the last 20 years I have been living on the island with my Greek husband and our 2 kids.
In the summer we are running a garden restaurant, and in the winter I am practicing my original profession, making ceramics - partly for use in the restaurant, and partly for selling during the summer.
Also In winter I enjoy the magnificent nature here, walking all over the island with my husband, and the company of the other girls and ladies on the island, gathering for coffee, Greek dancing and gymnastics.
When we moved from our home between the windmills, we thought it would be nice to share this magical spot on earth with other people, and we started renting it. So far this has given us many interesting contacts with people all over the world.
We are happy to help our guests with information's and suggestions - but we cannot as such physically show you around on the island, as we are tied to the restaurant during the summer - but then it is a very small island, easy to get around...
We really love our island and the life here - it is simple, quiet, healthy - and we would like to give you the opportunity to get to love it as well!
