Great location
95% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
* New features for winter - Heat pumps in living room and master bedroom;
* Fabulous outdoor hot tub.
* Spa towels are provided at no extra cost.

Daisy Hill Cottage is a well-loved classic Kiwi Bach. At Daisy Hill you are close to the cafes and restaurants of the quaint French village of Akaroa, but have complete privacy. Enjoy the large garden and the NZ native bird life.
Free off street parking for at least 2-3 cars is provided.
* FREE welcome hamper for stays of 3 nights or longer.

The space
With 3 bedrooms upstairs and 1 double downstairs this spacious house will suit a couple, group of friends or even 2 families. Enjoy the rambling old-world garden; relax on the deck with a drink, watching the sun go down over Akaroa Harbour; go swimming with dolphins or hike the crater rim trails.
There are bathrooms on both levels of the house.
Downstairs the table seats 8 and there is a log burner and two heat pumps for winter warmth.
Outside a covered deck & large BBQ provide great entertaining space.
The spa pool provides a place to relax after a hard day's hiking or shopping.

Guest access
You and your friends will have the whole house and large garden exclusively to yourselves, although for a booking of one couple only, you won't need to use the upstairs area at all.

Other things to note
This is a two storey home so use of stairs will be required for parties of more than 2 guests.
The driveway up to the house is steep and requires backing to exit. I prefer to park lower down on the parking pad, from where it is possible to turn around more easily.
Post Covid-19 the cleaning fee has increased to allow my cleaner extra time to clean thoroughly between guests.

Location

Akaroa, Canterbury, New Zealand

Akaroa is often called NZ's only "French town" after a failed attempt by French settlers in the 1840s. These days it is best known for its unique wildlife - Hectors Dolphins, NZ fur seals and white-flippered penguins. You can see these animals by cruise boat or kayak tour. Voted "Best cruise destination" in NZ several years in a row, Akaroa is a bustling seaside town in the summer months and has a lively cafe & restaurant scene.
Above the town are the craggy peaks of the ancient volcanic crater, where there are numerous walks with outstanding views. Many small bays within a 15-30 minute drive provide opportunities for picnics & exploration.
For a town of only 600 permanent residents, Akaroa has many facilities such as a cinema, public library, resident doctor and the unique "Gaiety Hall" where a variety of entertainments are held each summer. There is a genuine local farmers' market on Saturdays in summer. Fresh and smoked Akaroa Salmon is available from the butcher.

Well travelled teacher. I spent 9 years working in China. My Christchurch home has been completely rebuilt after sustaining damage in the 2011 earthquakes. I love the outdoors, esp tramping, photography and wildlife. My garden is my haven in the city. My Akaroa home is peaceful home for birdlife. My dream is to go to Africa.

During your stay
This is my second home so while I will try to welcome guests this will not always be possible due to late arrival etc. A digital lock will provide easy entry on these occasions. Maps and brochures of things to do in Akaroa will be available, along with the online Guest Manual.
