We are a family destination not a party location. We like it quiet and want to keep it that way. No smoking, no pets, no hot tub.

KEY TO THE CABIN: the key to the cabin is located in a lock box. Guests will be given directions on how to access.

Pets: Please be aware that NO pets are allowed at the cabin.

Smoking: No smoking is allowed inside the cabin. However, we have provided 3 cylinder type cigarette butt receptacles in different places around the cabin. You will find one at the base of the stairs going into the utility room affixed to the carport post next to where the wood is stacked. There is also one affixed to the staircase post of the stairs coming down from the enclosed porch. Lastly, there is one affixed to the gazebo on the pond side. Please be respectful and use the receptacles provided.

Long Distance Calls: Long distance calls are prohibited. If you need to make a long distance call please use a calling card.

Sleeping arrangement: There is a King bed in the Master, a King bed in the loft, a queen futon (with a very nice mattress) on the enclosed porch and one set of twin bunk beds in the bunk room.
TV: There is a 47" flat screen TV with a sound bar in the main living area.*** Please do not add to or change any settings on the TV programming.

Central Heat and Air: The cabin has a gas furnace central heating and a central air conditioner for cooling. The thermostat is on the wall under the stairs. Please be cognizant about keeping windows and doors closed while the heater or air conditioner is running.

Back-up Heat: In case the power goes out, there is a secondary heating unit. The gas space heater is in the main living area. If power fully goes out to the cabin and there is a need to use the space heater, please pull the space heater away from the wall/ side of the refrigerator by about 6 inches. The space heater puts out a lot of heat and if not moved away from the refrigerator, it cause the refrigerator to overheat.

Fireplace: *** (FIREPLACE ONLY TO BE USED OCTOBER THRU APRIL)*** When using fireplace, please make sure the flue is open before lighting a fire. Also, the ceiling fan in the living room will need to be off and the windows will need to be closed. If these things are not done, smoke will be pushed from the fireplace and in to the house. It is all about the flow of air.
When the fireplace is not in use, please close the flue to keep the cabin warm. If the flue is open when there is no fire, the heat from the cabin will be sucked out of the chimney. ******You might want to purchase lighter knot/fatwood for ease of starting the fire****

Trash: Please deposit trash in the outside trash cans underneath the staircase going into the Utility room. It is the staircase under the carport. Please be sure to keep the door closed on the enclosure. We don't want Smokey the bear or other forest critters getting in to the trash during the night.

Power Outages: Power outages are very rare but we want to make our guests aware of what to do if by chance the power does go out. If the power goes out in just part of the cabin, then this would signify that something has tripped most likely because of a power surge from the electric company. There are several GFI (Ground Fault Interrupter) receptacles throughout the cabin for safety reasons. If by chance there is a partial outage, go around to the receptacles and hit the reset buttons. This should restore the power to the area of the cabin which lost power.
If there is ever a case where the power completely goes out, the power company is extremely proactive about getting the power back on in short order. Generally it will be a tree limb falling and hitting a power line. A consequence of being in the midst of the National Forest.

Outside Propane Grill: Please keep the grill covered when not in use. There are three propane tanks so if you run out simply replace the empty one with the full one. . If you run out of propane, the extra bottles of propane are in the enclosed area with the garbage can under the staircase going in to the Utility room. This is the staircase under the carport. We ask that if a tank runs out, please set it on the carport next to the staircase so that housekeeper will know to get a replacement for our next guests.

Fire pit Firewood: As part of the reservation process, firewood for the fire pit is a mandatory purchase. We started the mandatory charge for the firewood because the guests who didn't pay for the firewood upfront, would want to pay once they got to the cabin and saw the fire pit firsthand. If for some reason, you are absolutely sure that you will not have a desire for the firewood, please let us know in advance and the fee can be deducted from the cost of your stay. The fee insures that you will have plenty of firewood. If you tried to buy firewood from the store in bundles, it would be very expensive.

Fire pit: *** ( IF YOU DID NOT PAY FOR FIREWOOD AS PART OF YOUR RESERVATION, PLEASE DO NOT USE THE FIREWOOD AT THE CABIN)*** If you have paid the fee for wood to be used in the fire pit, the wood will be under the carport. You will also find 4 skewers hanging underneath the porch next to the center post for use when cooking in the fire pit. Please wash and return the skewers to the hooks after each use. ******You might want to purchase lighter knot/fat wood for ease of starting the fire****
Initial Supplies

The cabin will be stocked with an initial supply of toilet paper, trash bags, dish washing soap, dishwasher soap and bath soap. The kitchen is fully stocked with utensils. Don't forget to bring or pick up extra paper towels, toilet paper, laundry detergent, and coffee filters. It would not be good to run out of any of those.

There are a number of major food stores in the area, such as Ingles & Food Lion and Walmart in Blue Ridge and a Super Walmart in Ellijay.

Upon Departure:

Place all dirty dishes in the dishwasher

Lock all doors and windows

Close Flue on fireplace

Turn off all lights

Hang extra cabin key on the Eat, Sleep and Fish key rack

Murray's place is a perfect place to stay for a vacation far from the crowd. It's very close to Blue Ridge, which is a lovely little town. Murray was super helpful when we have questions or difficulties during our stay. He replied to messages super quick even if he himself is suffering from hurricane Irma. Awesome experience!

Wonderful place for a family vacation. We enjoyed our days fishing in the private pond and playing in the river. Evenings were spent telling stories and making smores by the fire. Murray makes sure the cabin is stocked with anything you could possibly need.

Murray was such a pleasure to deal with. Before our arrival I had asked about events that were going on during the New Year and he was kind enough to send me a list of all the events that were going on in the area. Also, we wanted to watch the UFC fight and he was kind enough to order it for us and all we had to do was (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) him the funds and the same thing for a movie. It was an absolute pleasure to deal with Murray. The cabin is beautiful, clean, and very comfortable. If what you are looking for is to get away to a beautiful place and be able to relax and enjoy your surrounding this is definitely the place.

Truly appreciated this great escape away for some relaxing, quiet time. Murray was very attentive and everything is as shown in the pictures. The cabin is cozy, well-appointed and wonderfully decorated. We loved the fireplace, porch, (heated and a/c) the creek, the pond, fire pit and taking strolls around the area. I would love to also visit this property in the spring, summer or fall. It must be even more breathtaking and that much more fun to fish in the pond and sit by the creek and fire pit. The sound of the water rushing is so soothing. We loved sitting by the creek even though it was cold and enjoyed coffee on the heated porch with a great view of the creek. The pond with the gazebo is so peaceful and beautiful to take in. Again, seeing that in the summer or fall would be event better. :) We did experience cold temperatures and rain, but all good since this was more about slowing down for a bit before we hit the ground running again back at home. We took our hikes around the area, trips to Blue Ridge shopping, Mercier Apple Orchard/Store and out to dinner. And yet, still enjoyed the coziness of the cabin and fireplace. We met Ellen, the neighbor during one of our walks. Very friendly. Another neighbor helped us jumpstart our car after a drastic drop in temps that put our Florida car in shock. LOL But, temps rose to the 40's after the first couple days/nights and all was well. Thanks, Murray, for opening your lovely, family cabin for a great escape and yet a place that has many adventures where you can be as busy or not as busy as you'd like while surrounded by the beauty of the mountainous region.

My wife and I dreamed of one day owning a waterfront cabin in the woods. Trout Run Cabin is our dream come true. We were both born and still reside in Tampa, Florida. We have two school age children who love the cabin as much or more than we do.
