The space

This is it! - a surf palm leaf bungalow on the beach. Sleeping to the sound of the waves and waking up to the view of multi shaded turquois water. Buen Hombre is a hidden gem. A rustic, non-commercial, non-touristic fishing village surrounded by mountains and basically the windiest beach in Dominican Republic. On average Buen Hombre has 6-10 knots more wind than Cabarete which is famous but very touristic and crowded. In summer for 3 months’ wind averages 25-35 knots. Water is flat and shallow and ideal to learn and practice your tricks. Many down winders available from 14-27 km in beautiful waters. Boat trips, wake boarding, SUP, jeep and moto rental, manatees & more! Buen Hombre is the best beach in Dominican Republic to learn & practice kitesurfing. We have a professional , licensed kite school right on the beach by the bungalows. We offer room & kitesurf demo lesson for beginners or advanced kiters, also boat trips and snorkel. Trip to Paradise Island, SUP- stand up paddleboard, wake-boarding, off road trips, moto rental, trips to other beaches to kite or just to explore and much more, write for more info- we are happy to welcome you! With best, Kite Buen Hombre team.

Other things to note

Kite Buen Hombre Kite Camp is not your typical all inclusive resort. Instead of hot tubs you have the entire sea. Instead of air conditioning you will have actual sea breeze. That's right — you'll be staying in your very own bungalow right on the beach. We've kept things here as authentic and rustic as they were when we first arrived here. Kite Camp Buen Hombre has a local cook who provides food 2 times a day leaving one time to explore other seafood local places on the beach. The most common local delicacies are lobster, crab, octopus, red snapper and more. The hammocks and lounge chairs on the beach give a nice opportunity to relax between kiting and sports to sip a drink or play domino, table tennis and other sports. If there happens to be a day without enough wind there are many trips to other beaches, waterfalls or Paradise Island. Good way to practice board skills by wakeboarding, stand up paddle boarding, or just boat trips to surrounding islands. Great food and view and company are essential. Kite Buen Hombre Camp has 8 palm leaf bungalows right on the beach- an ideal setting to learn kitesurfing and relax and chill in beautiful Caribbean waters. Riin's Airbnb site offers a truly genuine experience of Dominican Republic. It's a hidden gem, for some it could be a little bit out of the way to reach. But I strongly recommend staying at Riin's place for at least 3 days, it is so relaxing yet offers such a rich cultural experience. Once you have done it, you will definitely want to go back

Where do I begin? Our time in the DR at Kite Buen Hombre was not only relaxing but beyond rewarding in so many ways. We were greeted immediately upon arrival, and was made to feel right at home. We formed great relationships with not only the staff at the kite school, Riin, Micky, Mehkel, the many young men who assist Micky during kite classes and the amazingly adorable loving Carman who is an outstanding cook. There was not one dish that she made that wasn't perfecto. We met some great people who were also guest during our 8 day stay at Kite Buen Hombre, such a blessing and the local folks in the fishing village were very welcoming. We very much enjoyed playing baseball and basketball with the kids as well. Riin and the staff made it possible for my husband to scuba dive, we went to paradise Island and took a stroll down the beach to watch the sunset from a lookout on the side of the mountain..Thank you Mihkel...Big shout out to Micky the Kite school instructor for your patients and time given while teaching us the beginning stages of kite surfing, you truly have a special skill. We will definitely be back for more training and kite surfing fun. Bonfire's on the beach and clear crystal blue waters that we woke up to each morning and the sound of the ocean waves that we fell asleep to at night. It was an amazing experience, one that will forever be etched in our hearts and minds. You all are our extended family and a place we can call our second home. Can't wait to see you all again soon. Scott and I are working on our Spanish as well for our next visit..wink wink..Thank you again and God bless.

Riin and Mikey were perfect , got a great time, real life experience in a fishermen village. The food was divine. I took a couple of tours with them to El morro , los mangles and cayo arena as I was not interested on kitting. Also an important part of the team , the boat capitan Domingo, he was incredible helpfull and I had a lot of fun. As a dominican leaving in another country I do recommend the experience.
