Normally we have a 2 week minimum for bookings. However, for West Point's Parents weekend in October, you may book for 1 week. Contact the host about specific dates. Our 95 year old seasonal cabin has 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. The rustic cabin is 15 minutes from Cold Spring with a lovely view of the Hudson Valley, seen from the screened in front porch. It is very quiet. Great hiking, arts, & theater nearby. The cabin is available starting May 1 until November.

The space

Our cabin is a charming retreat rentable during May to November. Situated on a hill, it has a lovely view of the Valley. We are adjacent to Hubbard-Perkins Conservation Area, near Fahnestock Park for swimming, boating, and fishing, the Appalachian Trail, and 15 minutes to either Cold Spring or Beacon and the Hudson River. The porch provides an outdoor space (without bugs) for eating, reading, etc. While slightly rustic, it has comfortable beds, a functional kitchen, and sleeping for 5. Being a seasonal cabin means there is no heat or water from mid-November to mid-April, so we close it up. Rentals are available beginning May 1.

This is a rustic cottage in a beautiful setting. We visited area attractions and took the train into New York for the day. The screened porch is a great place for playing cards, enjoying a meal, or just watching the chipmunks and squirrels. We hope to return next fall.

The host was not there since she lived in CA, but she coordinated with a local property manager very well, so we didn't have any communication problems. Our whole family (family of 5 incl. 3-young children) stayed at Ellen's cabin for 38 nights, and she made us feel very welcomed with personal greetings. Ellen was very thorough with the rules in the cabin which helped guide our children to be careful with her property. It was green everywhere, and so private. The mountain view from the front porch is a million dollar view! The cabin stayed pretty cool most of the time (from mid Aug.- end Sep.). There were extra beddings/towels to use. When a problem arouse, I contacted Ellen, and she responded within 30 minutes. She, her local property manager, and I could solve the issue so promptly. The next door neighbor came by, and welcomed us. - Very nice/sweet couple. Our children could explore/hike the mountain, and we could visit nearby sightseeing places (Taconic Outdoor Education Center, Hudson River from Cold Spring, Buddhist Monastery, Fishkill shopping/dining) - The cabin was perfectly located for family-friendly way. We saw a deer, a few chipmunks, a goat, a wild Turkey - feeling like a natural zoo here! By the time we left, the fall color was starting to paint the surrounding mountains. It's just a beautiful place there. Wonderful experience for entire family!! Thank you so much, Ellen!!

If you are looking for a magical place on a mountain top with a majestic view, then this is the destination for you! Not only was this sweet cabin convenient yet private and charming. The history it holds and the location are second to none. You will find trails located down the mountain side that are not used by anyone but yourself. It was a wonderful retreat we had with our children and I would love to have a stay just by myself to work on long put-off projects. We truly loved this cabin. The first night I had the unexpected visit of my probably one and only flying squirrel. There were a family of turkeys that would roam through the yard, and the best thing was a kestrel hawk that would perch on the tree right off of the front porch; not only one kestrel, but two believe it or not! We loved it here and are so happy we somehow found this place. Truly a one of a kind, once in a lifetime cabin. Its hard to compare this gem to anything else, since I didn't think a place like this still existed that would be available to others. If it was my house, I'd keep this to myself!

I spend most of the year in Southern California and work as an art teacher in a K-8 school. In the summer I spend time in the Hudson Valley, New York. I value good relationships, friends, family.
