Hunua Falls is located in the western part of Hunua Ranges Regional Park in Auckland area. The spectacular 30-metre waterfall is part of the Wairoa River which carves through an ancient volcano as it winds its way north through the township of Clevedon, before meeting the Hauraki Gulf. Explore the pristine native forest on foot. With so many different walking tracks of different duration and grades, there’s something for everyone, including kids. Check out the beautiful Hunua Falls with picnic areas and a variety of walks. If you’d rather hit the trails on a bike, there’s three tracks to choose from, including an easy valley loop.
Anglers can go trout fishing at Mangatangi and from the dam face of Mangatāwhiri Reservoir – you’ll need a fish and game council licence, available from most sports and fishing shops.
Please only use the walking trails which are open in the Hunua Ranges and use the hygiene cleaning stations at the start and finish of your walk. To stop the spread of the incurable kauri dieback disease some tracks in the Hunua Ranges have been closed to protect the health of the forest.
