Our family-run guesthouse is situated in old-town Selfoss, surrounded by trees and just a stone's throw from the magnificent Ölfusá river. The town centre is a 5-minute walk away and is buzzing with cafes, stores and all the local amenities, including the newly refurbished swimming complex, housing a sauna, steam room, indoor and outdoor pools, hot tubs and cold tubs.

The space

Our guest accommodation is situated on the ground floor of our two-storey house and comprises:

The bedrooms

Room 1: https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/2831152
A large bedroom with a double, wood-framed bed with a luxuriously deep memory foam mattress, bedside cabinets and lamps, wardrobe and chest of drawers.

Room 2: An extra-large bedroom with twin beds with deep, hand-stitched sprung mattresses, bedside cabinets and lamps and a chest of drawers. The twin beds can be arranged as a double bed or two single beds. There is also a sofabed in this room.

The shower room

Guests share a compact, but very well stocked walk-in shower room that boasts a monsoon shower. We have all those little extras you need while on holiday, i.e. shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, body lotion, hand cream, a hairdryer, disposable toothbrushes, disposable razors and international travel plug adapters and more.

The kitchen

While you are in Iceland, why not treat yourself to some tasty Icelandic specialities (I highly recommend the local organic, mountain-reared, grass-fed lamb) and bring them back to the kitchen in which you have everything you need to prepare a light snack or a three-course meal, i.e. fridge, microwave
oven, two-ring electric hob, kettle, toaster, coffee machine, French Press, toastie maker and waffle maker. In the summer, you are welcome to use our BBQ upon which you can grill your steaks the Icelandic way with minimum fuss and maximum taste. Ask me about the secret spice mix that all Icelanders use on their grilled meat!

As a special treat, I would love to make you a complimentary batch of homemade Icelandic waffle mix to enjoy at breakfast time which you can drizzle with syrup, alongside good filter coffee, hot chocolate, cordials and a selection of teas. In exchange, we ask simply that you wash and dry your dishes and leave the area clean and tidy.

Guest access

When you arrive, simply pull up onto the driveway and ring the doorbell.

The accommodation is on the ground floor and is suitable for anyone with impaired mobility. But, unfortunately, due to the width of the doorways in the house, the house is not wheelchair friendly.

PLEASE NOTE: guests and family use the same entrance to enter and exit the property.

Interaction with guests

Guest accommodation is on the ground floor of our two-storey house. The family live upstairs. We are available for you throughout your stay.

We are so very excited to meet you and will do everything we can to ensure you have the best possible stay!

Other things to note

This Homestay has been inspected by Selfoss City Council and carries the appropriate insurances for a Homestay in Iceland. This means that the accommodation has been inspected by Health & Safety and Fire professionals and been approved and licenced for use as a Homestay.

Fantastic stay!! Great location, easy to find, and phenomenal accommodations. We booked the morning of our stay, and our room was prepped and ready for us within a few hours. We arrived to find a perfect set up with a stocked kitchen (and the waffles are fantastic!!). The room was remarkably comfortable (loved the couch for lounging and planning our next day). Ethna and her husband were so kind and gave us amazing travel tips for the next couple days. We absolutely loved it here and would 100% stay here again! Highly highly recommend! Our hosts could not have been kinder or more accommodating and we appreciated their hospitality so much!

Ethna User ProfileEthna is a superhost.

Hey, we are Chris and Ethna Parker. We hail from the UK originally but are total Icelandophiles at heart. We have lived in Iceland for about 8-9 years and have been working with Icelanders in Iceland for almost twenty years. So, we are in a really good position to help you plan your trip and get the most out of your time here in Iceland.

Ethna is a post-doc researcher (dementia and stroke) and an essential oil educator. Chris is a Pastor of a local Icelandic Church and a thoroughly modern missionary. Like many other people who live (and love) Iceland, because of the cost of living in Iceland, we do lots of things to earn income, including hosting guests at our home.

We want you to have the very best time here in Iceland. If there is ANYTHING we can do to help, just let us know.
