While my profile clearly states that there are dogs freely roaming the property, Heather was right in that one dog was very unfriendly to her. He was a little stray that I had been taking care of and trying to place in a home. Heather had no problems with the apartment when I first asked her about it and besides the growling dog did not receive any complaints from her at all during the first three days that she stayed at my place. We had a conversation about the dog one evening and I tried to get her to get used to him by handing him some treats, but in the middle of the night received a message demanding for me to get rid of the dog, or she would go. I brought the dog to the pound the next day and believe I would have been an extremely heartless person if that had not upset me. However, I did not blame Heather for this, as I also told her, the dog was a stray and couldn't stay, being that I want to rent out my apartment I couldn't have a growling dog on property. I didn't see her the next day and did not find out that she had actually left without saying a word the day after. Removing the dog from the property clearly did not prevent her from leaving anyway. When I checked the apartment I found a door handle clear ripped off, fresh items left in the fridge to rot, and the said knife broken, which was a filet knife with which she tried to cut cheese (one of the hardest things to cut). I believe my profile clearly states the following; - My apartment is 5 minutes from the beach - BY CAR - I do have dogs living in the yard Yes, the shower does not have a heating device, as the water is naturally a normal temperature and installing it would drive the cost of the apartment up. I have not ever had any complaints about the air conditioner and while the fridge is not new it works fine. Heather ends her review in saying find another place to stay, which is very good advice in her case. If you want to travel on a budget and decide to stay at someone's home, it might be good to realize that you can't go around demanding things and expecting full concierge services and expecting the hostess to happily dispose of a member of the family because it bothers you in the one week you are there. Being a good guest used to be a value as highly regarded as being a good host and I strongly believe that Airbnb is not for Heather. I am very glad she found a different place to finish her holiday and hope she had a better time there.
I live on the beautiful island Curacao in the Southern Caribbean close to the beaches and our historical down-town. Since 2008 I co-run an event planning & destination management company. In my spare time, I love to DIY, read, hang out on the beach and I love love love live conce…
