A lovely weekend stay at Sally and Kerry's house at Taylor Point. They were welcoming and hospitable. Despite the near constant rain, we enjoyed ourselves and even managed a short soak in their hot tub. Thanks

Brilliant. We were attending a wedding so only met Sally briefly on the Saturday and she was very helpful. Sunday - what can we say! Woke up from a great sleep in a very comfortable bed to the most magic view of the harbour mouth from the picture window. Fabulous shower with several settings on the showerhead then out to the dining area where a scrumptious breakfast was served. We had suggested muesli and a piece of fruit - Sally took this to a whole new level with warm crumbly croissants and alpine strawberries. Yum! After breakfast Sally took us to meet her flock of really interesting sheep and then a walk up the hill for an amazing view of the harbour. Staying with Sally is an exercise in homeliness and luxury at the same time and not to be missed.

It is an unexpected location, but I have since found it on more detailed maps.Even more surprising is the approach, don't go with a low slung car as the drive is a little rutted, but persevere once you get up to the top you will be surprised by the magnificent views and the beautiful setting. The accommodation is very comfortable and overlooks the water - its nice to leave the curtains open and to watch the flickering navigation lights and the stars. The accommodation is well up to the expected standards and the hosts and their springer spaniel are exceptionally friendly. We recommend the Careys Bay Hotel for their fish menu.

Response from Sally:
I drive up and down our drive in my Mini daily. The drive is designed to shed water in heavy rainfall. We are within Dunedin city boundary area and Dowling Bay is shown on any decent normal map. The house is private and in an exceptional location and not in a city therefore not on a tar macadam drive.

My style of hosting is friendly, relaxed, helpful and efficient.
I am a visual artist and my husband is a Otago university professor. We enjoy our local beach, the outdoors, fishing in the harbour and sailing, travel, and meeting people.
My husband is from England and I am a New Zealander, we met in Dunedin 35 years ago and have returned to enjoy our favourite place after raising our family in the UK. We have lived in America, Scandinavia and also run an artist retreat in Tuscany, Italy.
We grow our own garden produce, raise grass fed lamb and look after the hens for your breakfast eggs.
