About this listing

One mile from the West Entrance to Glacier and a 4 "block" walk from Polebridge townsite, home to delicious food and drink, our cabin provides an opportunity for you to experience life at a simply slower pace.

The space

The Cabin was built in 1977 by the original owner and sits on two acres 17 miles south of the Canadian border in one of the most pristine wilderness areas in the US. This is a great place for artistic inspiration and personal serenity so bring your pencil, instrument and paints. Equally romantic, it's a perfect getaway for two, or for a few friends to reunite. Our cabin also serves as a great launching site for any hike into the backcountry of Glacier. The interior has an open floor plan with two lofts with beds. Main floor has a refrigerator, oven and gas stove top, wood stove for heat and gas lights. There is also plenty of candle light!

Make yourself at home and please try and give a little back if you need extras of anything. The cabin will be well stocked to make you feel comfortable.

We typically won't have the chance to greet guests upon arrival, although we'd love to be there all the time! We will prepare visitors for their stay prior to arrival, highlighting the need for mindfulness. This is a very special place for all of us that come up here so good old fashioned respect comes easy. Notes for the cabin will be there when you arrive.

What an unexpected village in the middle of nowhere...that touches people from everywhere. From birding and biking to floating and fishing, this North West entrance to Glacier National Park is truly an authentic Montana experience. The North Fork valley of the Flathead is home to one of the most intact ecosystems in North America. You will be living amongst wolves to wolverines and grizzly bears to mountain lions.

Walking distance to great food at the Northern Lights Saloon, fresh baked goods and coffee and anything else you may need at the historic "Mercantile". You can also rent boats, paddle boards and bikes at North Fork Rentals downtown next to the Mercantile. Taxis deliver guests from Glacier International Airport for a steep price. We suggest bringing your own transit to allow you the freedom to see it all.

The warm glow of the gas lights provides a nighttime energy makes you appreciate the inventions of the past. An indoor privy on a septic system (which is considered gold in the North Fork) is a luxury. And, we have one heck of a good wood stove/fireplace. Showers are available at the North Fork Hostel in Polebridge and at the Home Ranch Bottoms Store 6 miles south of town. We prefer to take our baths by heating up water on the stove and using a washcloth in the old fashioned Bird Bath Technique. Clean and conservative and rather effective. These are the type of things that make the North Fork so special for so many of us.

Difficult to put words on how much we loved our time here. The cabin is gorgeous and very comfortable and we got used to being off grid in no time at all. Felt like a treat rather than a chore! The peace and quiet were sublime and yet we were 5 mins walk from the Mercantile and all the deliciousness served there. Also had some amazing BBQ at home ranch bottoms about 5 mins drive away. We are already talking about trying to plan a winter trip. Go - you won't regret it!

It is a great peaceful place. It has just enough comforts for a cabin. We loved the location and visited the lakes in the north fork part of Glacier. It was an easy drive to the main park and we went on multiple days to the main park as well. A great place to recharge and appreciate the amazing beauty of the mountains.

This cabin is one of a kind! If you're looking to slow down for awhile, this is the perfect place. We enjoyed making our dinner over a fire every night and even found simple pleasure in pumping our own water to do the dishes. Off grid living can be an adnustment, but Flan and Dan provided detailed instructions on everything. Their home was the perfect place for our planned trips into the west side of Glacier National Park. If you have an adventurous spirit, you won't be disappointed here!

Flan & Dan’s cabin was the perfect home base to our first trip to Glacier National Park. Situated in a tiny town of Polebridge, the cabin has no cell / internet service or electricity, which makes it the perfect destination to unplug, unwind, and really take in the beauty of Glacier National Park. While off-the-grid, the cabin was very comfortable. There were recent upgrades to the water system inside the house as of June 2017 which made the stay even more comfortable than we were expecting. We were lucky to have some time with Flan who not only left us with freshly baked cookies but also showed us all the *new* features of the cabin. We spent our days hiking in the park and returned to the cabin for napping, reading, and listening to all 3 radio stations. You’ll enjoy charming dinners by candlelight and want to have oil lamps at your house after staying here! Highly recommend bringing along a bottle of wine or two :) As all the other reviewers mentioned, be sure not to miss the baked goods at the Mercantile. Overall, 5 stars for this gem of a cabin. Thank you Flan & Dan for sharing this lovely piece of heaven with us. We hope to go back next year!

I can't say enough about this amazing cabin... We were so grateful to step off the grid and back in time to a simpler time and place. It's exactly what our family needed. We did great hikes every day, went to the nearby lakes both of which were beautiful and peaceful, and just spent time together in the cabin enjoying the moment... Thank you Dan and Flan for the vision you have brought to reality!
