Lovely Victorian country house with large gardens and characterful rooms in quiet rural location 1 mile from Ballaugh beach; the calendar on this listing shows availabilty for 1 of our 2 double /twin rooms; check our separate listing for other. (please note I don't have internet at home and can be travelling, so please forgive me if I can't always respond to enquiries quickly; please use our instant book facility)

The space

we have a large luxurious twin or double room available with big windows overlooking the garden; there is a private bathroom - only big bath (no shower) but lots of piping hot water! this is shared with one other air bnb room but we are fairly quiet so the chances are you will have it to yourself. we may have further rooms available for the TT - please enquire.

Guest access

guests can make themselves at home throughout the house; there is a large drawing room with open fires and lots of reading material as well as comfy sofas on which to relax; we leave out tea/coffee and afternoon cake for our visitors. breakfast is in our sunny dining room and there is a spacious garden with outdoor seating and adjacent fields with friendly horses.

Interaction with guests

we are happy to help guests with anything they need, be it advice on visiting our lovely island, coastal walks or airport pick-ups. we like meeting people so happy to chat if you wish.

Other things to note

We are happy to help with evening meals or packed lunches and can do luggage transfers for walkers. The quoted price is for a double/twin room including full breakfast. please note we do not have internet access in the house.

My holiday at Zara's was for the TT fortnight. Staying on a real farm made the experience more invigorating. No TV or internet along with a bathtub made for taking baths in were some of the relaxing changes of pace. I rented a motorcycle and I would recommend having your own transportation. The walk to and from the bus stop is what we in the states call a "country mile". However, visitors to the island's athletic events my enjoy this.

Stayed here for a couple of days during the classic TT. Zara is a good host and her comfortable home made a good base to visit all areas of the course, she also has plenty of handy local knowledge. Nice warm beds in the evening, full cooked breakfast in the morning made for a great visit. Anyone visiting on a modern sports bike should be aware the road to the house is "gnarly".

Zara and her husband Simon were the perfect host! Zara came pick us up in Ballaugh and brought us to her lovely house! It was just what we were looking for, a nice farm in the marvel louse Manx country side! The breakfast the morning after was amazing! A perfect location if you want a break from the caos of the city! Thanks a lot!

The atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming. I wish I would have known there were so many cats in the house due to my allergies, but that is my fault for not asking. Tons of unique things in the home to look at. They were very accommodating and helpful.

Response from Zara:
hi chantale, many thanks for the review and hope you are continuing to enjoy your travels! I just wanted to point out that it is noted in the listing that we have cats. also, due to us being busy in tt week, you stayed in a different, family part of the house to that listed on airbnb: the cats don't have access to the bedroom that is listed on airbnb, or indeed the living areas on the ground floor as they are far too destructive! many thanks, zara

Zara was an awesome host with great hospitality skills. Zara made us feel extremely welcome in her house, and offered a great breakfast at anytime that would suit us! Furthermore tea and cake was available in the afternoon. The room itself was cleaned everyday, and was perfectly described. We couldn't think of anything negative to include in this review, and wouldn't think twice about booking again!

Zara and Simon where very accommodating, lovely hosts. Really enjoyed their house with lots of interesting bits and pieces and set on a lovely farm. The breakfast was very delicious and the cup and saucers where a lovely touch. Overall if you want to experience a rural british B&B then this is the place for you and it wouldn't be the same without Zara and Simon who had a warm fire with tea and cake going on arrival, where happy to pick us up in Ballaugh and even let us have the use of their bicycles, thank you guys
