Owners live upstairs; you get ~860 s.f. full privacy unit with separate entrance, fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, wood stove in the living room, and outdoor hot tub. One acre property is across the highway from the beach (no direct view, but a short trail gets you there), has a large pond and lawns, feels very secluded and quiet. We say it's for 2 because there is only one queen size bed, but there is an airbed and plenty of room for kids or extra adults to sleep in the living room area.

The space

Our home is rustic looking on the outside, but clean and comfortable inside. We have updated the downstairs rental unit with new flooring recently and it is a bright, pleasant space with window views of the forest next door. There is a separate bedroom with queen bed, small bathroom with shower, kitchen/dining area, and a large, recently upgraded living room with wood stove, desk, TV, reclining couch and chair, and dart board. There's room for an airbed, which we can provide. Older but clean and well maintained hot tub is just outside the sliding glass door, sheltered and private. There is no direct ocean view from the property, but access to miles of sandy beach is just a 5 minute walk across the road. Note that path may be muddy and puddled in rainy season, knee high rubber boots may be required!
Our home is in a rural area well outside Yachats city limits (2 miles) so please don't expect easy walking distance to shops or restaurants.
Also please remember we live upstairs with a rambunctious Labrador pup, so you will know we are there when we're home. We don't expect you to be quiet, by the way, have fun and don't worry about disturbing us, we're pretty deaf! :)

Guest access

Guests can have access to the entire one acre grounds, including outdoor (but sheltered) hot tub, fire pit and patio by the pond, large lawn areas for Frisbee or croquet (we have a set for you), badminton (if you set it up), complementary mini-growler of homebrew when available, and of course the beautiful, long, sandy, unpopulated beach is just across the street and down a short path through the bushes for your beachcombing and sunset-watching pleasure.

Interaction with guests

As little or as much as is mutually comfortable. Normally we will greet you with a quick tour, answer any questions about where to dine and sights to see, then leave you to your own adventures. Of course if you need anything we are always available. We may or may not be home the whole time of your stay, but will always be reachable by cell phone.

Other things to note

There is Cable TV (Charter Spectrum Gold) with all the premium movie channels and free on-demand programming in the living room and bedroom, WiFi is also available in the unit, but cell service is very poor unless you have AT &T.
Please note the weekend pricing may be a bit higher due to higher demand, and we're using the "Airbnb smart pricing" feature that raises or lowers all the rates depending on demand. Summers (June through August) we have a two-day minimum stay.

This place is surprisingly quiet since it is right on 101. There is plenty of room to stretch about and relax. The kitchen is wonderfully equipped and our dogs enjoyed the yard. Great place to stay on your way down the coast.

Wowzers! We stayed here over the past weekend (oct 5-8, 2017) and it not only met our expectations, but exceeded them!!! Yachats is an amazing place to visit and this home is so close to downtown and the the most beautiful beaches! It was so nice ending our busy days of exploring here! We found it very helpful and convenient to have a full kitchen to store and cook food in. The apartment was sparkling clean! Nothing to complain about, we will definitely come back! Thank you!

We were driving the 101 headed south and this was a perfect stop halfway through Oregon for us to spend the night. It is right on the highway so it was super convenient for us and didn't add any time to our drive at all. The space was clean, cozy and well equipped. We were recommended a wonderful restaurant in Yachats for dinner with great ocean views. We had a very pleasant stay, I would highly recommend this space :)

Michael and Barb's Airbnb is charming, clean, and equipped with everything you need. The wood stove and the hot tub definitely complete the place!! They were gracious enough to let us use their laundry facilities as well. They are both extremely friendly and welcoming hosts and if you are staying in Yachats, I would recommend this place for sure! The only complaint I have is that we didn't stay long enough!

Mike is very hospitable and changed his plans around to welcome us with the grand tour after our day on the road! The cozy apartment was outfitted with everything we needed, down to cable and ground coffee! While we could hear some moving around upstairs and Sailor made his presence known a couple of times, Mike was intentional about making us feel comfortable and made an effort to keep a quiet house. Also, the private hot tub, along with our 3 minute strolls to the beach made us wish we'd booked a longer stay! Thanks Mike!

My wife Barbara and I are fun-loving older folks (early 60s) who are quite young at heart. Some might say we never grew up. We enjoyed several years of traveling on a 40' sailboat to Mexico and the South Pacific as far as Australia, and one of our favorite things was, and still is, meeting different people from all walks of life.
We're still active sailors, and Mike is a Coast Guard licensed Captain who teaches sailing and takes people out whale watching through the Depoe Bay Whale Museum. We hope to meet you soon at our little Haven by the Sea.
