Owners live upstairs; you get ~860 s.f. full privacy unit with separate entrance, fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, wood stove in the living room, and outdoor hot tub. One acre property is across the highway from the beach (no direct view, but a short trail gets you there), has a large pond and lawns, feels very secluded and quiet. We say it's for 2 because there is only one queen size bed, but there is an airbed and plenty of room for kids or extra adults to sleep in the living room area.
Our home is rustic looking on the outside, but clean and comfortable inside. We have updated the downstairs rental unit with new flooring recently and it is a bright, pleasant space with window views of the forest next door. There is a separate bedroom with queen bed, small bathroom with shower, kitchen/dining area, and a large, recently upgraded living room with wood stove, desk, TV, reclining couch and chair, and dart board. There's room for an airbed, which we can provide. Older but clean and well maintained hot tub is just outside the sliding glass door, sheltered and private. There is no direct ocean view from the property, but access to miles of sandy beach is just a 5 minute walk across the road. Note that path may be muddy and puddled in rainy season, knee high rubber boots may be required!
Our home is in a rural area well outside Yachats city limits (2 miles) so please don't expect easy walking distance to shops or restaurants.
Also please remember we live upstairs with a rambunctious Labrador pup, so you will know we are there when we're home. We don't expect you to be quiet, by the way, have fun and don't worry about disturbing us, we're pretty deaf! :)
Guests can have access to the entire one acre grounds, including outdoor (but sheltered) hot tub, fire pit and patio by the pond, large lawn areas for Frisbee or croquet (we have a set for you), badminton (if you set it up), complementary mini-growler of homebrew when available, and of course the beautiful, long, sandy, unpopulated beach is just across the street and down a short path through the bushes for your beachcombing and sunset-watching pleasure.
Interaction with guests
As little or as much as is mutually comfortable. Normally we will greet you with a quick tour, answer any questions about where to dine and sights to see, then leave you to your own adventures. Of course if you need anything we are always available. We may or may not be home the whole time of your stay, but will always be reachable by cell phone.
Other things to note
There is Cable TV (Charter Spectrum Gold) with all the premium movie channels and free on-demand programming in the living room and bedroom, WiFi is also available in the unit, but cell service is very poor unless you have AT &T.
Please note the weekend pricing may be a bit higher due to higher demand, and we're using the "Airbnb smart pricing" feature that raises or lowers all the rates depending on demand. Summers (June through August) we have a two-day minimum stay.
Tobacco smoking outside only please, we don't mind a bit of 420 inside. Well behaved dogs are welcome (please try to de-sand them after beach romps), and we're happy to supply a towel for muddy paws in the winter months. Please do not leave dogs in the unit unattended for any length of time without permission from us. Sorry we can't accept feline guests because of other guest's allergies. Note: we have a year and a half old 90 lb dufus very friendly Lab puppy named Sailor. Our main rule: Have fun!
My wife Barbara and I are fun-loving older folks (early 60s) who are quite young at heart. Some might say we never grew up. We enjoyed several years of traveling on a 40' sailboat to Mexico and the South Pacific as far as Australia, and one of our favorite things was, and still is, meeting different people from all walks of life.
We're still active sailors, and Mike is a Coast Guard licensed Captain who teaches sailing and takes people out whale watching through the Depoe Bay Whale Museum. We hope to meet you soon at our little Haven by the Sea.
