The space
Here, you are within minutes to all the local ski resorts, Donner Lake and Lake Tahoe. The Truckee Legacy Trial is at the end of our street, and you can walk one block and be downtown on Commercial Row.
We pride ourselves is being good hosts. While we are new to Airbnb, we are not new to hosting vacation rentals. We've had a central coast vacation rental for 5 years on another popular rental site and have over 100 five star reviews. We care about the space being clean and comfortable and interesting. We try to think of things to make your stay more comfortable like WiFi, a large smart tv, nice comfy bedding and towels, decent paper towels and TP, ziploc baggies and tupperware, tin foil, laundry detergent, picnic cooler bag with ice packs, beach towels, etc. You shouldn't have to buy or bring such basics for a short stay. We also know we have one of the best properties in all of downtown Truckee, and are happy to be able to share it with guests.
Come spend time at Lake Tahoe (15 min. by car), Donner Lake (10-15 min. by car), the Truckee River (you're already there!).
Truckee Legacy biking/walking/running trail is at the end of our street (less than a mile).
Ski resorts are all less than 15 miles away: Northstar, Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Sugar Bowl, etc.
Golf courses galore within less than a mile to about 10 miles away: Squaw Creek, Gray's Crossing, Coyote Moon, Ponderosa, Northstar, etc.
Reno is a 35 minute drive.
Snow: It snows - sometimes, a lot! Yep, you may need to deal with some of that white stuff during your winter stay. If you are staying during a storm weekend, we will ask you to park at the end of the parking area, so the plow can sensibly do a good job clearing the parking area and driveway. We will have a shovel if you decide you need one, but this is generally not an issue if you have AWD.

Guest access
Yours is a private one bedroom apartment. You have your own private entrance, and are able to access the entire outdoor space except the upstairs deck off of our office. Upstairs is our own personal office space, and we are rarely there on the weekends or during holidays. You have a patio right out your door with a table and chairs, a lower very large patio with table and chairs and lounge chairs, additional plastic adirondack chairs which are easily moved to the river's edge. During the winter month's the tables and all chairs are stored away to prevent damage from snow (generally November - April), but there are still lots of flat rocks worked into the landscaping for sitting even in the winter. Due to a step down into the bedroom and a step up into living area and sharp corners on glass table as well as the open access to the river, we cannot rent to families with young children.

Other things to note
Truckee Occupancy Tax: The Town of Truckee charges 12% occupancy tax on all short term rentals. We have included this tax in the base rate as Airbnb does not have a way to charge it separately. Short Term Rental Registration No. STR-0000-00-21-12
Noise: We are located downtown which, if you are familiar with Truckee, has railroad tracks running through it. The trains pass by our property multiple times during the day. However, the bedroom for this space is at the back of the house which really turns the train into muffled background noise. We lived in this home for 15 years and our room was at the back of the house just like this room, and we were never bothered even with the windows open at night. In the winter, if there is a storm, you may hear plows clearing the road which just serves as a reminder of all the beautiful fresh snow you are going to have the next morning!
COVID-19: Due to Covid-19, we do ask as part of check out procedures guests strip the bed and put all sheets and towels in the washing machine with detergent and set to a hot wash and start it. All dishes and utensils need to be hand washed or put in the dishwasher and started on a normal wash cycle.

Downtown Truckee is a historical yet upbeat place. This home was originally built in 1880 then added onto in 1920. The street is primarily residential, yet Commercial Row is literally a stone's throw away. You can walk to restaurants, shopping, coffee shops, mini mart, all within a couple of minutes. In addition, the Truckee Legacy Trail access is at the end of our street for biking/jogging/walking.
