Great Family Vacation
We can recommend the apartment/house of Hector for a nice and relaxing vacation. The small development is very quaint and clean. Many of the neighbors are Canarios who use their properties for the weekend and then there are a number of permanent residents. It is very quiet and we had the lovely seawater pool to ourselves on most days. While you do need a rental car, Playa del Ingles is a mere five minute drive away, Faro de Maspalomas even less and Puero Mogan not more than 15 minutes. This makes the location convenient, even though, you are not in walking distance to a beach. There is a great supermarket very close (two minutes by car direction Mogan) and Carmen in the compound is always more than happy to help or just chat.
The communication with Hector was immediate and very friendly. Even when there was a small issue, he was there to help within minutes. The apartment is just as shown on the pictures, the bunkbed room is rather small but the downstairs loo is very convenient. The kitchen has everything and more you could ever want. Even a food blender and the all-important washing machine are there. There are very good air-conditioning units in all three rooms and the couch in the living room is cozy.
We have not given the full points for several small, annoying and – worst of all – unnecessary reasons that for us add up to a one star deduction. First of all was the fact that the apartment was not clean, when we arrived. Having to clean for three hours, (re-?) wash the dishes and do the laundry is a less than ideal start to a vacation. In general, the state of repair of the apartment is unfortunate. The downstairs toilet seat was broken (something the cleaning-lady would have noticed if she had touched the toiled), several of the lights do not work, there are multiple small water damages, no bed-side tables to put your phones on, the cabling of the TV is just ugly and the hot-bird satellite only picks up BBC News, some Polish and Arabian channels. You do not really need two large flat-screens for that. Worst is, that all this, any hand-man could have easily remedied with two days of work, a bucket of paint and a few fuses and light bulbs. If you then stopped at IKEA and bought some matching glasses and silverware, the apartment would be off the charts beautiful. Small niggles, I know, but just so unfortunate with such an otherwise beautiful flat.
