We had a wonderful stay at The Shepherd's Shack. The cottage is stylish, comfortable & spotless. The surroundings are beautiful - great views & brilliant for dog-walking. Fantastic hospitality - a welcome basket on arrival & an onsite honesty shop/bar, which proved very useful. Location's great - a short drive to Hay-on-Wye & the beautiful Brecon Beacons. We're already planning a return visit!

We were greeted and made to feel welcome, and given tips on local walks. The cottage had a really useful guide and we had the run of the farm. Feeding the animals was a real treat for my 6 year old son!

This is a lovely cosy cottage. Kesri and her husband were very welcoming, showing us around the farm. We loved meeting the alpacas! Hay is a short drive away and this worked perfectly for my family and our dog – plenty of fields for him to run in.

This is one of the most peaceful settings imaginable for a cottage. A really special place to stay. The enclosed garden is great if you have pets. The lounge is cosy and warm with a wood burning stove and enough free logs to keep you warm for an evening or more. Loved the four poster bed and the view from the bed in the morning is wonderful. Do be aware that the broadband is only available at the main farmhouse which is 200-300 yards away but you can get coverage using a dongle (depending on your provider).

This wonderful cottage has everything we could have wanted for a winter break. There's a cosy living room with comfy couches and a fireplace with enough free wood for three nights. The kitchen is big and light with an aga and great morning views. And there's a huge comfy bed with a window that looks out over beautiful, peaceful surroundings. Paul and Kesri were the perfect hosts during our stay - they were nearby if we needed them but the cottage offers plenty of space and privacy. They were also kind enough to stock some essentials (bread, milk, eggs) and some muffins for our arrival. The cottage is warm and has plenty of hot water, pillows, towels, etc, so we felt comfortably at home. All we really needed to bring was some food and our walking boots! Although the house is very secluded, it's only a short drive to Hay-on-Wye (in fact we walked there on one occasion, which took around 45-60 minutes - worth it for the views if you can do it before dark). Hay is small and lovely - we'd recommend dinner and drinks at The Three Tuns (excellent friendly service) and a browse around Booth's Books. All in all, it was the ideal place for a cosy break before Christmas and we hope to go back again - maybe in the summer next time.

Lovely, cosy cottage on a secluded piece of farmland - so quiet, yet also very convenient for trips into Hay on Wye. The cottage has a super comfy bed, open fire, fully kitted out kitchen, lots of hot water - everything you could want! Ideal for walks in the Black Mountains and Brecons. Paul and his family were lovely hosts - very helpful and generous. Highly recommended!

Given up corporate life for the so called good life in rural England! Will we make a success of it. Time will only tell..Though being farmers has never felt better. We have now renovated 2 old Drovers Cottages on the farm, a huge threshing barn to be used as a funky chillout barn and established our super posh glamping in amazing safari tents. Our business is called Drovers Rest. Hope you like what we have done & come visit soon. Ideal for family groups, celebrations and well behaved ;-) adults groups too. Ok you can be a bit naughty! We are also corporate trainers & facilitators and hold team retreats here on the farm too so we can help plan your stray for the following year and help your team bond in a spectacular setting.
