A design home with eclectic mixture of modern/antiques collection, furniture, carpets and lamps; authentic wooden floors and ceilings. The house will be found exactly how I live in it. Historic view of te Galata tower front Bosphorus back terraces.
Very few historic apartments in Istanbul have this kind of a location. The building is French style from the turn of 19th century and built by Italian masons. It is on average 5 meter wide and 30 meter long. The bedrooms are located on the East and the Salon on South - West. Sun and light all day. Right in the centre of Beyoglu; the old Pera and walking distance from the historic city of Constantinople over the Galata bridge. This is not a scarcely cheap decorated house, but a home to it's host who fancies design and good taste of furniture and objects. A small salon terrace has a view on the tower. A kitchen terrace for breakfast and a back terrace for morning sun bathing and evening summer lingering with view on the Asian side, the Bosphorus and Golden Horn entrance. A big old English dining table, a completely new functional kitchen and a modern design salon. All three bedrooms in Turkish colonial style. In the pictures you will see that the orange bedroom is smaller but can host a 6th guest as the bed can be made double. The apartment is light, but the evening atmosphere is magnificent. A retro modern bathroom with jacuzzi, rain shower and a separate second toilet next to the bathroom.
All that is describe and a warm home feeling. This beats any hotel by far. With the necessary respect for the neighbours, the guests also have access to a fantastic terrace at the top of the building overviewing the Golden Horn, the most important mosques such as Blue Mosque and The Aya Sophia.
Interaction with guests
I would like to have my guests enjoy this exclusive house with as much joy and respect as I have given to it's creation. You will find a booklet with the optimum use of the apartment as well as the neighbourhood. The rest I leave to the many city guide available in my library filled with good reads and design books.
Other things to note
Preferably, you will book your trip to Ataturk Airport in Istanbul. Any taxi driver knows Galata Kule - pronounces Galata Koele or Galata coolhe for the english speakers. I usually let my guests call me when they get into a taxi to speak to the driver for this simple direction. Of course for any assistance by the time you have booked, you can call me mobile any time. I speak French, German, Dutch, English and a tad of Turkish.
Nothing special required but common sense and respect for a very personal house.
