It is my home and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Full amenities available including a cozy electric fireplace. Get ready to "unplug and wind down." Large screen TV and Wifi, Blue Ray Player, as well as a large hard drive with movies and music. The little store in Garibaldi rents movies as well.

Take advantage of the games available as well as the eclectic collection of books to peruse during your stay. There is an indoor toy box and outdoor toys for beach use. There are even tub toys for the kids (or kid in you :) My grand daughter enjoys the place regularly and has since she was an infant. She is now 5 years old so we have a variety of toys, movies, and books for kids.

Location

Rockaway Beach, Oregon, United States

Rockaway Beach is a sweet, quirky, quiet, and quaint beach town with a few cute shops, amazing seafood at your fingertips, and 7 miles of beach to wander along. We love our beach as it is quieter than some in the North Coast. The focus of the town is truly the beach itself. If you want action, you can always head to Seaside or Cannon but Rockaway is an escape from the crowds.
Our home is right on the ocean, in the center of town, walking distance to all the shops and restaurants nearby.
Rockaway has a variety of restaurants in walking distance and is a short drive to Tillamook (20 mins), Manzanita (15 mins), Cannon Beach (40 mins) and all the north coast has to offer. Oceanside and Netarts are about 40 mins to the south.
Please let me know your favorite places! Here is an Intro to Rockaway and Beyond! Keep Reading... :)
Welcome to Rockaway Beach and Sirena en la Luna (Mermaid in the Moon)!
Enjoy your visit to our home on the gorgeous North Oregon Coast!
The best part of Rockaway is the amazing beach right outside your windows. It stretches for miles and is perfect for long walks.
Here are some local gems you won’t want to miss:
Cow Belle Café and the Offshore Grill- Great Breakfasts!
The Bakery on 101- Yummy treats!
The Little Crow- Fun shop to explore. You may find your favourite beach treasure tucked away on their shelves.
The Beach Bite- Full service restaurant with a wide variety of menu items and beer on tap.
The Sand Dollar- Million Dollar Views! Just a few doors down on the beach, next to the wayside. Stop in for happy hour from 3-6 and you may even catch some live music on the patio. They have a covered patio section and even gas fireplaces. Cozy place to catch the sunset and a bite.
Down the road in Barview is an awesome Mexican Food Truck. If you are hankering for some great tacos, burritos and more, take a quick drive down. It’s one of my favourite spots!
Grab some Tillamook ice cream from one of the local shops and make sure to visit Flamingo Jims. It is a Rockaway anchor. Trash and Treasures and the Little White Church are also very sweet little shops.
Play BINGO with the Lions on Friday and Saturday night year around! It is a blast and you may just go home a big winner. There are bingo blotters in the kitchen drawer. Feel free to use them and test your luck.
Although Karla’s Smokehouse is closed, which is sad indeed, the Old Oregon Smokehouse is right on US 101 next to US Bank. It has all sorts of yummy smoked goods for take away and an outdoor seating area.
Build a fire on the beach and make S’mores! Many locations along 101 including the grocery store across the street sell firewood. It’s an Oregon Coast tradition. We have marshmallow roasting sticks in the kitchen.
Ride the historic steam train from Rockaway to Garibaldi and back or vice-versa. It is a trip back through time and a lovely way to see the short distance between the two towns.
Beyond Rockaway Beach…
Drive up the coast to check out Wheeler, Nehalem, Manzanita and Cannon Beach. Each town has its own vibe and appeal. Rent kayaks in Wheeler and take a paddle to Nehalem to check out the shops but do plan around the tides otherwise your leisurely paddle will become a real workout.
Enjoy a walk through Manzanita, the pizza shop there is particularly yummy and if you stay late you may be able to dance the night away at the Sand Dune! We love the eclectic shops and galleries there. Horseback riding rentals are available next to Nehalem Bay Park.
Cannon Beach needs no introduction. It’s one of the busiest towns on the north coast, full of art galleries, restaurants, and shops. A fun place to spend the day and do plan around the tide as Cannon Beach has some of the best tide pools in the area to explore. Escape the crowds back in Rockaway!
Another day travel back towards Tillamook and stop in Garibaldi. Visit the docks and pick up some fresh seafood, especially if you are feeling a little “crabby!” The oysters, clams, crab, salmon, tuna, and halibut are a special treat and depending on the season give your favourite a try or expand your taste buds. If you are adventurous, rent a slot on a charter boat and catch your own. Garibaldi has some fun little watering holes, restaurants and a lovely bakery.
Don’t miss the Tillamook Cheese Factory. Take the self-guided tour and treat yourself to cheese samples and ice cream. It’s a must do. Tillamook has some sweet little shops and restaurants as well. The Blue Heron Cheese and Wine Shop is a fun stop and has animals to feed for the youngsters.
There are Farmer’s Markets around the area. Some notable ones are:
Manzanita- Friday nights in the summer
Tillamook- Saturday early afternoon in the summer
Astoria- check for times and duration but it is huge and really worth a visit
Cannon Beach- check for times
You will have an amazing time!

Although I've been a world traveler for work and play my heart remains in Oregon, at the beach and with my family and friends in the wonderful PacNW. I would love to get to know you through a shared love of the ocean. My little coastal home is full of personal and local art as well as Intl goods found during my travels. My interests include; yoga, scuba, sailing, hiking, photography and travel, of course! If you want to see what I am up to, search Sailgirl Design. I try to chronicle travels and my past expat life. You will see some lovely shots of Rockaway as well. Check out the last page, which is my blog. Originally from the PacNW, I love the Oregon Coast, everyday! Even the cloudy and cold grey days look great when you are gazing at the waves beyond your window... My motto is most definitely from Tolkien... "not all who wander are lost."
