Bright and spacious 70m2 apartment with charming 19th century features (high ceilings). Nicely located in the historical centre of Montpellier, a short walk from restaurants, cosy squares, cafes, shops and transport links.

The space

Located on the first floor of a 19th century building, our apartment benefits from stunning high ceilings and some antique features. The interior is furnished with both modern and vintage pieces, including industrial lamps and contemporary artwork. Large windows, including three French windows leading to a balcony, make the open plan living and dining area both spacious and sunny. The well-equipped kitchen and breakfast bar includes a large retro fridge freezer, washing machine, oven, microwave, orange juice presser and vintage Danish bread slicer. As well as a dining area with wooden table and chairs, there is a lounge with a TV, modern sofa and comfy leather armchair. There is also a folded bed for extra guests.

The bedroom features a king size bed, desk and bookshelf. The highlight of the room is a beautiful 19th century ceiling mural of birds flying in the sky.

The bathroom is warm and contemporary, with shower, bathtub, and floors and walls made from traditional sandstone.

This apartment has an excellent location, walking distance to the main restaurants and bar in the historical Montpellier. Excellent welcome, nice decoration, the A/C would be a must.... :-)

Great spot in a great location....tram and buses are right out the front door! Everything was in working (URL HIDDEN) is hot there in the summer but the fans helped! Plenty of room to spread out. Kitchen was great....plenty of dishes and cutlery. The bed was comfortable. Very secure. It worked out perfectly for our two week stay!

My husband and I just left Laurent’s apartment after a 5-month stay. There are many good things about the place yet a few drawbacks which probably only weigh in if you stay long. First, the good things: Laurent was very responsive when I booked his place by giving me a big working desk and a dryer – key to my decision making. The fact that it is right above tram line no.4 (station St Guilhem Courreau: look it up on the Tramway official site as (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) map doesn’t have it) is a big plus to get around town. The kitchen is also well equipped and there were only very few utensils I needed to buy for my long stay. However, the biggest issue is with communication. Since Laurent doesn’t live in France and relies on Juliette (and now a housekeeping agency) to liaise with the tenants and the status of his apartment, many problems with the apartment had to be communicated by email with Laurent directly as she could not make any decisions for him. These include broken items in the apartment, reimbursements for replacement items (toward the end, light bulbs were no longer reimbursable), scaffolding on the outside wall etc. From check-in to check-out, communications had been sporadic, e.g. we only found out a week before we checked out that Juliette had quit months before. Certain things were not too pleasant e.g. a constant odor coming from the drainage pipes in the basement that fills the staircase – not very hygienic especially since it attracts flies during warmer days; internet constantly gets cut off (I suspect it is due to too many people using the same channel); the double bed has a sag in the middle which caused me a bad backache (however, the single bed is excellent for my occasional guests!) and of course, as many other guests have mentioned before, since the apartment is not equipped with any air-con and has only one small unbroken fan, when we left in early June (one week before a heat wave hit Europe), it was boiling hot in the apartment even when I refrained from cooking and using the dryer.

Response from Laurent:
It has been a delight to host Patricia. Over such a long stay, in a private apartment and not an hotel, it appears, unfortunately, rather usual to face some domestic issues such as bulb needed replacements, fuses blowing and others problems that i rather call small problems. Others isues such as the odors outside the flat being noted were never mentioned before so it needs investigation. As also clearely indicated the flat is located in an old traditional buidling with restricted installations and no air-con were required when Patricia moved in, she didnt selected a flat with air-con so i guessed they knew that Montpellier in the summer season in Southern France can be hot even if this year is anormaly hot (heat wave).

We were 3 friends staying in Montpellier Christmas / New Year. Our stay at Laurent's apartment was absolutely perfect and it had everything we needed. The apartment is very cozy and the location is perfect and really near to the center (in short walking distance). Laurent and Juliette were both very helpful with answering to all of our questions. So we would stay there again and can only recommend it :)

The house is a spacious one-bedroom in a fantastic part of the city! Very clean with good lighting. Plenty of room to relax. Lots of pots/pans/plates to make food and the grocery store is a half a block away. Laurent and his associate Juliette were very professional and responsive. So many great restaurants and cafes within minutes. It's about 15 minutes walking to the center of town with the trolley just steps from the front door. We really enjoyed our stay. Thank you! :D

We enjoyed a great seven days at Laurent's apartment. The decor is quite quirky with a lot of old standard lamps and it was warm and comfortable with everything we needed. Montpellier is a interesting, vibrant city and the apartment's location on the edge of the old town is ideal. A short walk to the many cafes, restaurants and bars, the lovely shops and ateliers and the many historical points of interest. Juliet, who met us at the apartment, was very warm and friendly. She had some great tips for us including the Gazette Café with its fun bands and dancing and the regional famers' market held under the arches of an 18th century aqueduct. We had thought to hire a car while we were there but the apartment's close proximity to the train station and tram lines meant that we were able to see everything we wanted to see by public transport. We would definitely recommend Montpellier and Laurent's apartment
